The hotel is well-situated and is an old character-full building. The staff are very friendly and helpful to ensure you have a good stay. All food is individually prepared and the chef is excellent. The room facilities are good and tea/coffee products are plentiful. The toiletries are very good and also plentiful. Bed was very comfortable and overall the stay was excellent.
Me and my husband spent 1 night here and have to say the whole experience was smashing, the cleanliness of the place ,the service and lovely fry up all 10 out of10 handy having off street parking too, the main dinner menu is all strictly a la carte which wasnt for us but we certainly wouldn't think twice about a 2nd visit.
As a single occupant I was on my own so could have felt vulnerable. I did not. Although the room was tired the cost of the room was fair. I was well looked after and the food was great. Very accommodating owners.
Very old building of course but the floors are very tilted and i worry that it may be unsafe. I thought the person in the room above us was going to come through the ceiling.
My third visit. Still very good value. Spacious comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Pleasant and attentive staff. Quiet location.
Minor quibbles - no coffee or teamaking facility in room and awkward bedside lighting arrangement
Brick wall hotel is in nice village, near to the coast.
The staff were very helpful and dinner and breakfast were delicious .
We Would recommend it.
Our only comment which hopefully may be of use, the window to the stairway the light is on all night. A blackout blind would solve the problem
.
We spent three nights in this hotel and loved it, the whole area, the gardens, the residents' lounge, the bar and the dining room. The staff were extremely helpful and we felt cared for. Food excellent, and plenty of it. My bed was comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom need updating, but no doubt that will come
As a vegan couple it was so nice to stay somewhere that employed a proper chef. So often we are offered a plate of salad covered in chilli or pepper. At the brick wall we were offered a choice and the chef visited our table to discuss options which made us feel very welcome. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely go there again.

Two night stay
The staff were all very friendly and keen to provide a good service. Our room was a little tired but the kingsize bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was basic with only a bath and hand held shower with no screen or shower curtain. The full english breakfast was the best we've had in ages. It was refreshing that the dinner menu doesn't offer chips opting instead for fresh potatoes and vegetables. We would stay again but in another room with a proper shower. The hotel is in a good location for exploring Rye and the surrounding area.
The hotel is a lovely old building in a delightful village spot. But the interior is very dated with paint peeling off walls and very old fixtures and fittings. Some of the restaurant staff were quite blunt and not accommodating. Overall nowhere near worth the price we payed for a triple room.

Such a lovely hotel, very quaint and traditional where quality service and customer care are important. We had a wonderful two night stay where our every need was catered for. Our room was spotless, spacious with well equipped bathroom, bed very comfortable and food in the restaurant excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive which made our stay very enjoyable.
We loved this hotel, it was in a quiet location and the hosts were so welcoming and kind. The room we stayed in looked very dated and the bed was very small. We found it difficult to sleep. A part from that everything was great!
This was a very positive experience. As a single traveller one can be neglected but nothing could be further from the truth here. Everyone here was pleasant and welcoming from the receptionists to the chambermaids and the waiters. The food was delicious and nothing was too much for them. There was a lovely garden to sit in and it was quiet and relaxing. If I go that way again I will definitely stay there. Thank you.
The annex rooms are VERY basic, and do not justify the price. We would certainly never go again. MANY others report the same. Sadly, as we have nothing against the people. It needs a MAJOR facelift.

Very welcoming young lady at reception created a good first impression. Our evening meal was nice and arrived remarkably quickly given how busy the restaurant was that night.
The breakfast was top notch with a good choice of fruit and quality ingredients.
Our only issue was the temperature in the bedroom but it was a humid night.
The water in the village went out the first night. Staff dealt with this stressful situation very well, with a fully booked hotel. The staff were delightful throughout our stay.
Excellent service and cleanliness. I think that the food could be improved. The breakfast table relied on tinned fruit and over ripe bananas. The english breakfast as most uninspiring with bacon that was tough and not very palatable.
The customer service was great. Rooms require updating but also add the the character. Not so great was the leaky tap, hair in bathtub and the double bed was two singles pushed together and sleeping on the gap was very uncomfortable.
