The location was charming, but the room was very tiny. We never saw anyone. It was also hard to find at night, and hard to get in. Our host was very nice, through messaging. It was late when we arrived, yet he responded to my messages right away and we got in.

Stayed here so we would be close to Montserrat. Easy to park and then drive to the top the next morning. Great accommodations with the “Hostel” feel but a private bathroom. Property owner reached out on WhatsApp to make sure our rooms would be ready and configured for our arrival. Would stay again for sure!

Very convenient for the Monastery funicular. Hosts were helpful and the room was comfortable and clean, although you could hear the neighbours. I was really grateful for the fridge for fruit and to store drinks.

The renovated room featured beautiful wood trim, great shower, and a spectacular view of the monastery atop the mountains. Parking was steps away from the front door and modern elevator. Wifi worked well. Complimentary juice, tea, coffee and muffins. Short walk to cafe. Very quiet and clean. A/C good. Highly recommended!

Affordable, great location, clean rooms, air conditioning. Didn’t like initial means of getting into the rooms but that may have been a communication issue. Was surprised that there wasn’t any restaurant. Expedia info shows a restaurant (looked permanently closed), outdoor patio (locked). Very bare bones. Still it met our needs.

Pere was a great host. He contacted me before my arrival and provided instruction to check in and where to park. He also offered helpful travel tips. The room was clean and comfortable. Great location to visit Montserrat. Plan to eat in the restaurant, the food is great.

The host was very friendly & helpful. The entrance access road to the town was closed for festival celebration & he came to entrance to guide us to the hostel. There is a trail walk going up to Montserrat monastery near the hostel. It was a tough & challenging walk especially the last 45min to the top that we were not prepared for. But we are glad we did it! There seem some upgrading done inside the apartment with rooms relatively new. The reno seem still in progress & the lift is not available for use. We had to carry our luggage down 3 lvl. The bathroom was renovated but there was no drainage outlet on the floor other then shower cubicle area so water flow out from shower cubicle & clog up on the floor that we had to clean up after shower. Typical hostel so do not expect noise insulation from next room. Hostel kitchen was closed in the morning bcos of long weekend but our host was very kind to have hosted our breakfast at nearby bar before we hit the road. Overall, it is a decent place to stay.

Simple accommodations, but very helpful and friendly staff. Delicious food & wine for dinner. Breakfast is included, but pretty basic. Had a nice view of the mountain from room. Shower was hot. Beds were OK -- I slept well! Hotel is about 20 minutes' walk (some of it uphill) from train station. The hiking trail up to the Monastery, as well as some other trails, are very close by. A beautiful area.

Hotel or Hostel ?
Over all a bit tired, rooms a little cramped, with limited facilities. WiFi was good, after an initial couple of re-sets. Restaurant very good, quality menu and good wine selection, pleasant staff. It is actually a Hostel rather than a Hotel, and if you are looking for a walking break, tour the area etc, then its a perfect stop. Terrific views from some of the rooms.

We didn't stay here... We had trouble locating the reception area door. It was up a small hill, around the corner and into a boiler room where the girl was using a laptop next to the boiler. It was not a clean place at all.

This hotel offers very simple rooms, but they are clean, affordable, and offers an excellent breakfast which is included. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Besides, the room is not why you are in Montserrat.

Clean and economical
The person who checked us in was not very friendly but he did speak English which helped. The woman who checked out was more friendly. The room was clean. It is a small, no frills place but felt clean and the bed comfortable. Walls are thin. It kind of feels like a lodge or cabin in the mountains. The heat stayed on adequately because it got cold (December visit). The shower is very European, no lip to it so water gets goes all over the floor. The night we stayed, there was not enough hot water. There is no elevator so you will have to carry luggage upstairs. The breakfast was fine. It was included with our rooms although they said only one room had an included breakfast. I had printed out the confirmations which showed both rooms included breakfasts and they accepted that. it was a good value. I think mainly people stay there to visit the monastery. I would stay again.

Not a good value for money!
This hotel is really bare-bones, no frills accommodation. Yet you pay a rate that would get you a better equipped room in a city. This is understandable considering what a small locale Montserrat is. It looks like the rooms have not been redecorated since the 80s: expect less quality then in the pictures. The breakfast would need to be improved. We also dined here the night before, the food was mediocre at best. Moreover, the smoke from the kitchen entered the dining area so your clothes will be smelly. When the chef blew the fuses while cooking accompanied with a general disarray, it brought Fawlty Towers into mind. To their credit, the staff was very nice and friendly.

Very nice for the price. We were arriving after hours and had called the hotel to notify them. Staff were able to accommodate and assist us. Room was comfortable (bed was better than any we had slept in Barcelona, Girona or Valencia). Excellent breakfast buffet (the best breakfast we had during 2 weeks of travelling in Spain). Very friendly people. Would stay again if travelling to Montserrat.

My plan was to hike to Montserrat in the afternoon after arrival, and leave early in the morning to catch my flight out of Barcelona. Upon arrival, I explained that I would be leaving too early to take advantage of the included breakfast. I was offered a take away sack breakfast, which I gratefully accepted. I asked directions to the trailhead, which were happily given. I was even given a little brochure which explained in English. Simple, yet pleasing accommodations and lovely staff made for a lovely experience!

Hidden Gem in Montserrat!
This was a great find in Montserrat! We loved it. Nice small hotel with a restaurant below serving a free, excellent breakfast buffet and a really affordable, delicious dinner. We appreciated the help parking and bringing in our luggage when we checked in (early!) I wasn’t expecting the hotel and room to be as nice as it was. The pictures on Hotels.com don’t do it justice. The front desk also helped with directions and info on the monastery. We would have enjoyed another night here if we could have stayed longer!

Good value and great location.
If you have a car this is the place to stay while visiting Montserrat. You can park close to the Hostal whereas staying at the much more expensive hotel at the top (Monistir) means parking quite a distance away.

Affordable stay
Functional and affordable for the area. Meals were very good and service great. Fixtures and fittings could do with improvement, I.e. heat pump worked sporadically, and plug fell out wall (exposed wires). Room is more basic than the photos (no couch, chairs, kettle, cups etc), but we found it practical and affordable for just on night, more hostel-like. The hotel is at the base of mountain, but we were totally confused as to how to get there, no taxis at railway station. Hotel could do with better directions. No instructions on hotels.com as to directions or distance from railway station. Not suitable for disabled people. You can walk to the second stop of the rack railway to get up to Montserrat. Authentic little village with tiny cobbled streets, worth a walk at night. We were able to leave our luggage at reception, and staff were courteous and helpful (spoke English). All round recommend but be prepared for being more basic than appears online.

The host was very helpful with local info, and also lead us to our room. Room was small, but comfy. The mattresses were stiff, and the bathroom was tiny, but everything we needed was present, and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was rustic but very good.

Convenient place to stay as a stopover when visiting the area. Most staff are lovely. However, we did have an experience of a staff member telling me the IVA was not included in our bill for food there then charged this on top of the bill. Eating in the restaurant later and being served by a different staff member I was presented with a bill at the end of the meal which clearly said at the bottom that IVA was included. Seems the previous bill had been tampered with. Make sure you get receipts here

An honest review
The room was more delapidated than the pictures suggested, with a mouldy shower, and the smell of smoke. We were assured it was a non smoking room. Also, the staff were not as helpful as we would have liked.

Very nice
We really liked this place, clean, calm. Nice mountain village and friendly owners! The only drawback was that the restaurant that was a part of the hotel was closed, but there was a good restaurant at a walking distance.
