With its more than 700 tropical islands scattered around the Caribbean Sea, the Bahamas offer a postcard-perfect destination. White-sand beaches and translucent turquoise water attract visitors from around the world. The capital, Nassau, is a fascinating cultural hub. Dance to calypso music, savor fried crab or play dominos with locals in the diverse city. Whether you’re looking to spend a week relaxing at a luxury resort or exploring Nassau’s local culture, the Bahamas are a great family-friendly destination.
Once a pirate haven, the Bahamas have a colorful history often overlooked for involvement in the beach culture. Spend time to discover the colonial history that has defined Nassau. Visit the Pirate Museum to understand the lawless existence of the seafarers who once dominated the Caribbean and the role the British had in driving them from the area. Climb the Queen’s Staircase to reach Fort Fincastle and take in panoramic views from the Water Tower.
New Providence Island’s Cable Beach offers excellent, child-friendly swimming conditions and a range of accommodation options. Cabbage Beach, on nearby Paradise Island, is home to many of the Bahamas’ larger resorts, including the iconic Atlantis Resort. Here you can spend the day playing at the Aquaventure water park or the Atlantis Aquarium.
Exploring the Bahamas is easy when based in the Nassau area. Many attractions are located within the city’s old town and can be reached on foot, including Retreat National Park and the Arawak Cay entertainment precinct, a great place to try the local seafood dishes the Bahamas are known for. Buses serve other areas of New Providence and Paradise Island, while ferries and charter boats at Nassau Harbor go farther afield.
The Bahamas are located just 187 miles (300 kilometers) southeast of Miami, and are easily reached by plane and boat. While there are more flights in the winter peak season, some prefer the slower pace of local life off-season for a relaxed and more affordable tropical getaway.
The property was first class, would highly recommend staying here (other than a beach that had a lot of small bits of debris and garbage in the sand). You can tell they have to charge a lot of $$$ for food, beverages and merchandise in order to support the development. Be prepared - everything is ...
The entertainment staff Mario was excellent. The bar staff Carl and Lakeisha courtesy was excellent
Their programs for interacting with dolphins are a fantastic opportunity for people who appreciate animals.
Amazing and it truly was a paradise! Our family had the time of their lives :-) thank you!
Liked the smaller atmosphere and vibe ! At first it seemed too small and I was disappointed but after walking the property for a few minutes I fell in love
Check in was bad, there was a rotten pastrami sandwich in hotel that was rotten and smelt foul. hotel was great
Beautiful hotel in a great location. The entire resort is well-planned and stress free. Good food, beautiful grounds, great water fun including the beaches, staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. I recommend without reservation!
Loved the beach area and pool area! More staff needed for quicker service
