Explore this innovative museum complex about a uniquely Bavarian brand to learn how the Germans became global leaders of the motor industry.

Learn about the history of one of Germany’s most iconic car manufacturers at BMW World. The museum has interactive exhibitions and driving simulations and is used as a pickup centre for new car owners.

BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works). Motorcycles, cars and engines have been this Munich company’s trade since 1917. The four-cylinder tower by Olympia Park that houses the international BMW headquarters is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Next door, explore the BMW Museum, BMW Plant and BMW World. The famous car makers encourage visitors to tour these attractions to learn about its history, the present car industry and ideas for the future.

The pioneering Coop Himmelb(l)au firm designed the ultramodern structure that houses BMW World, which was opened to the public in 2007. Browse the spacious building to learn about the brand. Peruse the various exhibitions that focus on individual brands under the BMW banner, such as MINI, Rolls Royce Motor Cars and Husqvarna. You can learn about the history of certain cars and motorcycles through lively product displays and take part in interactive exhibitions and driving simulations.

Adjacent to BMW World, you will find the BMW Museum, which opened in 1973. Learn about more than 90 years of social and technological progress within the company. Peruse the assembly of more than 100 treasured cars, motorbikes and engines.

The BMW Plant is the manufacturing headquarters for the entire BMW Group where more than 900 cars are built daily. Take a guided tour around the building for an insight into their assembly and production methods. Due to the popularity of the tours, you should reserve a place in advance.

There is a small admission fee for the BMW Museum, which opens daily except on Mondays. BMW World is open daily until late and entry is free. Take the U-Bahn (metro system) to the Olympiazentrum Station. There is free parking available within the BMW complex.
