The lake’s traditional name is Vagkolam, but many know it by its nickname, Sweet Water Lake. Take in the lush green surroundings before experiencing the warm waters. The hot springs keep the sand and clay warm underfoot. It is said the clay contains special healing properties, so give yourself a revitalising clay treatment by rubbing it into your skin. Walk to the towering Banyan Tree nearby to get involved in a regular meditation session. Check out the “money stone” laid beneath the tree. The stone’s inscription reads: “Give if you can. Take if you have to”, so leave a donation if you have some change to spare.
The lake’s picturesque location makes for a beautiful photo opportunity. Capture the reflection of the coconut groves and green-and-orange foliage in the lake’s surface and see dragonflies flitting across the water. Look out to the horizon to see the gentle waves of the Arabian Sea.

Sweet Water Lake is situated near Kalacha Beach. Reach this secluded beach by foot from Arambol Beach to the south or along a slightly more difficult path from Querim Beach. Sweet Water Lake is a well-known attraction and locals in surrounding villages will point you in the right direction. Monsoon season is between May and October, so visit outside of these months for pleasant weather.
