The hotel was good. We were in an annex, which you would have selected when booking (which we didn’t). We’d have preferred to be in the main building, for convenience and ambience, however, the room was good and clean. The staff were great and the bar area was really nice, plus it’s very central. Overall, we’d stay again.

Great location. Good food. Decent room.

Nice pub hotel in a central Ambleside location. Staff friendly and happy to help. Food good too. Room was small, but it was only a single and it did me just fine for a solo two night stay.

Beautiful inn in center of Ambleside town centrally located in the Lake District. Excellent food and drink on site or plenty of options within walking distance. Will definitely return

Had a good overall one night stay. Warm welcome and comfy beds after a hard day's walking. Room clean but window screwed shut so was a bit warm/stuffy. There was a fan provided in the room that helped. Good breakfast with decent choice. Evening meal was possible to have in your room (supplied in takeaway boxes collected from the bar) but pizza was burned and ribs were a bit fatty so would probably eat elsewhere with hindsight as plenty of alternatives within easy reach. No carpark was a downside and being peak season, it was a bit of a struggle to find spaces in several public carparks and was nearly £20 extra for overnight. One of the nearest carparks had a Wednesday market that sets up at 6am which nearly caught us out. Mid August so busy town, but nice and quiet in room despite central location. Overall, as long as you are aware of the potential downsides above, I would still recommend it as decent value for money.

Great stay

Great stay, great food/breakfast. Dog friendly and in town centre. Issue with parking but that’s Ambleside for you. Either move the car from the street (every hour) or go to car park. Only issue was the internet was annoying asking to log in constantly and the tv was digital needing wifi and wouldn’t connect.

A good centrally based hotel in Ambleside - staff friendly rooms were clean and in good condition. Paid parking available 100m along the road. Local shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Only niggles - guy snoring in the next room was very audible and shampoo dispenser in shower didn't work. Otherwise a good relaxing stay in a lovely town. And the weather was cold but perfect!

Check in was easy and speedy. We were informed that there would be live music in the evening but were not informed as to how audible it would be in our room… it finished at 11.27 and we could hear every single line sang which did not mean a relaxing evening for us. The TV signal was really poor so we suggest connecting to the WiFi and streaming. The staff were lovely and helpful but I’m not sure we’d return due to the noise.

Good

Perfectly adequate stay, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast made the stay good value for money. Paid parking is nearby and it’s only £1 after 8pm. The main negative is that the WiFi wasn’t working and signal is not great in Ambleside. We didn’t eat at the Temperance Inn as there are a lot of great restaurants to choose from in Ambleside.

Easter break

Hotel bar was a lovely area, we stayed in a cottage room at the back of the property which was rather noisy from the beer garden. The bedroom was small and steps down to a bathroom which also was cramped and had a musty smell to it. No towels in the room on arrival. Some staff were quite rude and not very helpful. The breakfast waitress next morning was absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. Breakfast was lovely too. Unfortunately not in a rush to go back.

Noise

We booked a trip to cross off some Wainwrights, a good nights sleep was essential but not achieved unfortunately due to thin floors meaning you can hear every movement from those above. We complained about the noise and were offered to change rooms but we’d of had to wait about until later in the day and pack everything up so declined, as we were wanting to get off on our day trip. Ambleside is our favourite place - we’ve been many times but won’t stay here again. Breakfast was 10/10.
