"Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hostel is in a good location, and the staff is awesome! There are a few maintenance issues that should be addressed. We had issues with our shower clogging up and our room flooded during a heavy rain. The area is definitely pretty loud, so beware if you’re a light sleeper. In the end it was a good value for the price, and I’d consider it for a future stay."

"The staff at Oryx Hostel were very friendly and helpful. They offer great activities around Tulum everyday and you can rent bikes for an affordable price. It is also easy to get around town by foot or with collectivo. The pool was clean and refreshing, and the common outdoor space was enjoyable and peaceful. "I checked in at 4am and it was a flawless stay. Very nice beautiful property and bathroom, hot water. Very nice staff and nice restaurant. Best part is it across the street from a beach resort that you just have to buy drinks to be there. I highly recommend this place. And it’s very near lots of cool things to see like cenotes and Mayan ruins. "

"NOT AS ADVERTISED. I arrived and was told I couldn't check in despite calling ahead that I would be a bit late. When I was finally given a bed the room was dirty, the bathroom moldy, and the sheets had a very strong smell that made me itchy.
