This hotel was perfect for us, lots of cosy places to chat, have a drink or bar meal, we even had a pub quiz on the sunday evening in the bar which was great. The breakfast was excellent All staff very nice. The room was very clean and comfortable, We will definitely be here again.
The hotel was hard to find as its off a street that was not named on the map however when i found it i was very happy. A very warm welcome on a cold , dark raining evening, i was shown my room which was wonderful. Old fashioned touches to a very modern interior and all white bed linen and room. Everything was well planned and thought out, I love the old fashioned hat box that contained my 2 bath towels! I was offered fresh milk on arrival for my tea and coffee, the breakfast was traditonal and excellent. Overall this is the best hotel i have stayed in , in Buxton to date ( i have tried a lot) . I will definately go back and would highly recogmend this hotel to anyone who needs to stay for business, a romantic break or just take in the views.
Arrived early morning after long flight from australia and were told that a room would be ready soon for us and in the meantime to have a complimentary breakfast while we waited. The dining room staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was to your satisfaction. Many thanks to the managers Owen and Nicola who made our stay so enjoyable. We would definetly stay here again.
From the start to leaving the Hotel we felt at ease with the very friendly owners and staff. The beer was great, evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was of quality food. A nice touch in the bedroom was a glass of sherry and a sweet. Well done for making our experience very enjoyable. Peter & Maureen

Nestling in the Peak District National Park, with breathtaking views, the Stanley Arms is ideal for discerning guests …More
The welcome was warm and genuine, the room was really comfortable, no airs and graces, but you can tell a lot of thought and care has been taken to ensure guests have everything that is needed. Very comfortable bed and pillows etc. We slept very soundly. Chinley is not a regular tourist trap, just a chilled village. The cooked breakfast was excellent and we got to choose exactly what went into it (so no wastage!). The coffee was excellent. We had a couple of meals in the Old Hall Inn during our stay. They surpassed expectations of pub food. The menu has nothing fancy on it, just excellent fresh ingredients. Steak was perfectly cooked. Fish and Chips included very fresh haddock and crisp and crunchy batter. Great selection of ale, great service.
A nice little haven as a stop over before we got to Buxton for our main stay. Although our room wasn't ready on arrival at 4p.m. we felt relaxed straight away and enjoyed a nice drink in the friendly pub. We ate at the pub - The pate starter was a little on the small side but all the same very nice and the main of steak and kidney pudding more than made up for the small portion. Breakfast was lovely and definitely a full english. Would recommend to anybody who wants a quiet quant stay.
Rooms are a bit snug, so don't take too much luggage, but the location, the welcome, the comfortable bed and the fantastic breakfast made this an excellent choice for a weekend getaway. Will definitely stay again when visiting the peak district.
Probably the best B&B we've staid at! Plenty of places - pubs & chippies - serving excellent fare.
Tideswell quite, but having the feel of a 'lived in' village. Centrally placed giving easy access to both White & Dark Peak areas of Derbyshire.
We'll certainly be back!
