The Bali Health and Wellness Guide
Sometimes you come home from a holiday and feel you need another just to detox the over-indulgence. Well, now’s the time to change how you travel. Hop on board the health train and make Bali your first stop for a holiday in wellness. Think surfing, yoga, hiking; local organic produce and meals that don’t eat all the dollars in your bank account and views to take you away into moments of true stillness. Here’s my Bali Wellness Guide.
Surfing
Surfing is one of the best ways to get your body moving on a beach holiday and is a sport anyone and everyone can have a crack at. Kuta beach has a great wave for beginners to advanced levels. Pro-Surf Kuta, is one of the top schools for private or group lessons. They have a broad selection of boards and equipment, from soft to epoxy and fiber glass boards, so there’s no need to travel with one and the instructors are ASI accredited…not to mention a bunch of legends.
Tegenungan Waterfall
Treks into waterfalls are always an incredible way to move your body without feeling like you’re physically exercising, absorbing some biophilia and experiencing the natural beauty of inland Bali. Tegenungan Waterfall is absolutely stunning, and only 5km south west of Ubud, so it’s easiest to organise a day trip from Ubud.
Sunset at Uluwatu
Sunset in Bali is something truly indescribable and the perfect way to wind down. There are a few places to catch this beautiful time of day, to take a moment to breathe deeply and enjoy it, but one of the best is over the cliffs of Uluwatu. Single Fin is a popular bar above Uluwatu Beach where both locals and tourists come to catch the golden moment. The sunset cabana at Alila Villas almost defies gravity by perching out over the Cliffside and is the perfect spot for a sundowner before retiring to your private villa tucked into the rice paddies.
