The settlement of Orange was originally founded in 35 B.C., although it wasn’t bestowed with its name until the Middle Ages, when it was placed under the dominion of the House of Orange-Nassau.

If you visit during summer, secure tickets for the prestigious Les Chorégies d’Orange festival. During the festival, a series of high-quality productions are staged in the Roman theatre.
