The Park Hotel Tokyo perches satisfyingly high on top of a skyscraper, offering excellent views out across Tokyo's cityscape and, inside, a beautifully tall central atrium. It is at Shiodome station on the Yurikamome and Oedo public transport lines, and is a short walk from the extremely well-connected Shimbashi Station (you can do the whole walk to Shimbashi in a pleasant underground shopping concourse, if the rain or the sunlight is too strong). A konbini and some local restaurants are located directly underneath the hotel, and the local area has many more of both, plus some pharmacies. The Hama-rikyū Gardens right next door to the hotel are a beautiful and calm space with a low ticket price, and make for a pretty good way to begin a visit to Tokyo. I found the staff very helpful. They spoke English and were gracious about my attempts at Japanese. The breakfast was good although, like any hotel breakfast, you can feed yourself for cheaper if you're willing to leave the building. My room was very clean and well-presented. You pay for all this in two main areas: price, obviously, and--less obviously--room size. The rooms aren't tiny, but I think you can find bigger spaces for less money (albeit with worse views) if you look. Now, I hold the view that hotel rooms are for sleeping and the rest of the time I'll spend out seeing things, but if you plan to spend long spells in your room during your stay in Tokyo, that's a caveat to bear in mind.
