Clean room, helpful staff, free drinks from bar

Niwa is a nice oasis in the midst of bustling Tokyo: great location, good restaurants, cool bee-keeping on the property, BUT it's quite dated compared to many other properties I've stayed in on this trip. Tiny rooms, dated bathroom, ancient coffee machine in the room...one can do better for the money.

The hotel is extremely well situated, close to two metro stops as well as numerous restaurants and shopping. It’s is also very close to Ueno Park and the Sensoji Shrine. The room was clean and perfect for a few nights in Tokyo. The breakfast option was convenient and tasty. The staff were extremely polite and helpful when ordering a taxi for the airport.

What I enjoyed most about the hotel was location, within a few minutes of Asakusa station and the Ginza line, as well as Sensoji temple and Natalie shopping street. It was a vibrant and lively area. Also very close to the river and a path that runs parallel to it for those who like running and a stop for the river cruise. The hotel is not fancy but very comfortable. Bathroom amenities were available in the lobby so you had to grab what you needed other than the usual shampoo, conditioner, body soap and soap at the sink. Shower/tub room was separate from toilet which was convenient. The staff at reception were helpful and the breakfast room staff were too. Breakfast was a combination of Japanese and western and enough for me to feel satisfied. Lots of staff present there to keep tables clean and turned over. We used the laundry once and that was a nice option to have. The washing, drying and soap were done in one go for 700¥.
