"Good value and location. Nice Minor issues: Amenity packs didn't contain coffee and creamer, but they were available from the front desk. Laundry dryers very slow, we dried items in the room. No under bed storage was a big issue, as I expect it from APA."

"The pictures on Expedia were really out of date and we were unpleasantly surprised The property was unfortunately very run down and out dated. We decided to change our fight and check out a day early because it was so unpleasant during our stay. The air conditioner in the room we rented was not functional and very very weakly pushed out only hot air. The handles were both broken off the window so we could not open it and resorted to leaving the hallway entrance door open to get some air. The hallway air was much much cooler than what was in our room. The bed was very stiff and only 2 small flat pillows were provided. The mini fridge did not keep things cool, yes we turned it on with the switch inside. The carpets in the halls and room were very worn, stained, and coming apart. The mirrors in the elevator were cracked and dirty and had tape covering the writing for floors where services (I'm assuming ice and vending machines) were no longer offered."

"We've stayed at the Monterey hotel chain in various locations & a few times at this specific hotel. In the past, it's 5-star rated but this time, it could hardly 3 stars: - The room was dated & overdue for a renovation - Maintenance: the main door lock didn't work, we had to rely on the secondary latch to secure the door. - Staff helpfulness (or the lack of): on Tue 19/May around 07am, we asked a front desk lady to help us send our luggage via Yamato to the airport & were advised that it must be done at the train station. We did just that & learned that it could have been done from the hotel. - We stayed 4 nights & enjoyed breakfast the first 3 mornings on the 3rd floor. However, on the 4th morning Wed 20/May, the breakfast on the 5th floor was reeking with cigarette smell - the smoke was so strong impacting the quality of an otherwise very nice breakfast experience So far, whenever in Sendai, we'd try to book this hotel, but this experience has changed our position"

"Book here if you want a modern, clean "western" style hotel that punches above it's weight. Insane value. Clean rooms, and lots of amenities with a nice public bath on the top floor. Very polite and helpful staff with an organist who plays in the lobby during midday. High quality breakfast. Afternoon snacks and a small evening meal (9:30pm) are included. The construction is very new and well maintained. Would recommend, even the more basic accomodations I selected were better than I expected."
