If you are looking for the authentic English village experience this is perfect. Beautiful old hotel with a nice pub on the first floor. Friendly people, two more pubs on the same corner. There’s a really beautiful forest nearby for good walks , it’s about a 30 min drive to the coast (Holy Island, Bamburgh etc). was really really enjoyable.

Staff were nice and accommodation was clean and decent for the price. Breakfast was good and we had no complaints at all.

If you can brave cutting through the locals having a pint then you get a lovely room with decent amenities and a fantastic full English breakfast

The Black Bull lodgings and Staff were excellent. Anne was especially gracious. The food for breakfast and dinner was delicious. Heartily recommend staying here.

What more would you need.
Attentive staff. Clean and well presented room. Awesome shower. Spacious and comfortable.Good location. Didn’t eat but saw others food and it looked generous pub grub. Great restaurant next door. Parking at rear awkward to find. Could do with a fan as it was a very hot muggy night. Would stay again though. I ordered breakfast which was good

Highly recommended pub + rooms & great breakfast
Worth staying for the breakfast alone! But comfortable bed, hot and powerful shower, spacious room and great location (excellent Italian next door), handy for Bamburgh, Alnwick, Lindisfarne etc. Would definitely stay again.

Helpful friendly staff. Stayed here many times. Working unsociable hours and can come and go as you please. Very reasonably priced stay (and good food too if you wish)

Very comfortable stay in friendly hotel
Very comfortable, clean room. Staff very friendly as were the locals in the hotel and in the town. Only negative was the wifi which was constantly cutting out.

Definitely would stay here again
A little gem. We did a bit of a road trip on the way back from Scotland and extended our holiday by a couple of nights. Nice little quaint village, wasn't much there for us especially by the time we arrived on the Saturday evening, but as we were hitting English Heritage sites on the day and the day after, it made our road trip more feasible. As we started at Fort William in the morning heading to Berwick upon Tweed and making our way down the coast, we we glad of the comfortable spacious room.

Our entire stay here was fantastic. The room was spotless and had everything you needed, when we asked for a fan it was no trouble and they'd even bought new ones ready. The staff were so friendly and the place itself was perfect for visiting multiple locations. This was our first time in this part of the world but we will definitely be returning. Couldnt recommend enough! Thank you so much.

One we will definitely go back to as soon as poss.
We were made most welcome. The food was very good . Our room very comfortable and clean bathroom. The bedding , towels and housekeeping was too high standard. ( the hotels.com site said NO housekeeping towels or sheets I can’t understand why. ) Don’t let that mistake put you off . Superb value for money. We will definitely go again soon.

Extremely comfortable with very friendly staff. Decor a bit tired but that did not matter obviously ot the Ritz but just an honest good value small old hotel. Nothing was toomuch trouble for the staff-all delightful

Staff helpful & friendly, food good but the premises was shabby & the facilities were very basic. No shower, only a bath with handheld spray, without a screen. Still all &, all for the price acceptable.
