Authentic Mountain Log Cabin Perched On A Cliff Side Above The Shenandoah River

Enjoy a spectacular view of the Shenandoah River and the Massanutten mountains from the brick patio or the new wooden deck. The large great room has an open ceiling is furnished with large flat screen TV, leather sofa and matching love seat surrounding a beautiful wood burning stone fireplace and a small dining area with a view of the river. The cabin has two bedrooms. The primary has a king size bed with two sliding glass doors which open to spectacular view of the river and mountains. The room also has a flat screen TV about a gas lock fireplace. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. A fully equipped kitchen including microwave, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker allow for 'dining in'. Has a shower only, not tub. This cabin does not have direct boat access from the property, but there is a public boat landing 2 miles from the cabin. Cozy cabin is located on a gated private gravel driveway which is 7 miles from Front Royal, VA. The cabin is three miles from the Shenandoah State Park and five miles from the northern entrance of the Skyline Drive of the Shenandoah National Park. Many of our guests enjoy local hiking, fishing, canoeing, and mountain biking and wine tasting at one of the thirty wineries within 30 miles of the cabin. Your home away from home – The perfect retreat! Firewood provided from Sept 1 to April 1 for a fire for each night of your stay. • Week rentals can not be Saturday to Saturday• Three night minimum for following holiday weekends: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years• Two night minimum for all other stays• DOG FRIENDLY ONLY- $75.00/dog/stay. Additional details will be provided upon reservation: Please note, outside camping is not allowed without written approval from the property manager• Maximum number of overnight guests on the property is 4 people. Our cabin is in the woods and you may encounter many types of wildlife and insects during your visit. We will not refund any payment due to these encounters outside or inside the cabin. Our cabin is serviced on a regular basis by an exterminator. If you are uncomfortable with this situation and choose to cancel your reservation upon the receipt of this notice, a full refund will be made. There is a public boat landing, Gooney Creek, which is 2 miles from the cabin and the Shenandoah River State which is 3 miles from the cabin entrance.

Nice Getaway

We were looking for a weekend getaway to do some hiking in Shenendoah and the Cozy Cabin was perfect! The views from the deck were gorgeous, and loved having a fireplace in the living room and bedroom on a cold weekend. Close to Front Royal, and the park - overall very happy with our stay!

Clean and cozy cabin!

My husband and I needed a weekend away, and this was the perfect spot! The cabin is exactly as pictured, and the views from the wrap-around deck are just spectacular! We made use of the fireplace on chilly mornings, and it was close enough to Skyline Drive that we were able to spend multiple days in the national park. We are already planning to return again soon!

Mountain Paradise on the River

The property was fantastic and views from the deck were spectacular. My wife and I were looking for a very special cabin to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and we found a little slice of heaven overlooking the Shenandoah River.Our host made the trip extra special by making all the details were covered.We can't recommend this property enough. We are looking forward to our next trip already.

Blue Mountain Christmas

We stayed at the Cozy Cabin for a family Christmas. The cabin is so beautiful and the views stunning - we felt like we were in a Hallmark Christmas movie! The kitchen (while cozy) was very well equipped to allow us to prepare holiday meals. Gorgeous cabin in a perfect location. Would definitely stay again!

Relaxing Weekend at the Cozy Cabin

I stayed here with my family during New Year’s Eve weekend. The weekend could not have been more relaxing in this very spacious and comfy cabin. The cabin had all of the necessities that we needed during our trip. The view from the wraparound deck was incredible. I would definitely stay here again.

Cozy Mountainside Cabin

This was our second visit to these lovely cabins. This cliffside cabin with breathtaking views was wonderful. The newly added master bedroom is beautiful, with the biggest, most comfortable bed along with a new bathroom. The only suggestion I would make was to add a motion light in the parking area for return trips to the cabin at night. We will definitely be returning again. Thinking of returning to see the fall foliage.

Perfect cabin for getaway

Cozy cabin is perched high over the south fork of the Shenandoah with astonishing views of the river and Massanutten mountain beyond. We were lucky enough to be there during a snowfall which made the property truly magical. Because of a communication glitch between owner and cleaning service, we arrived to a cabin which had not been cleaned or restocked. These things do happen and what is more important is that the issue was dealt with swiftly, kindly and professionally by John and his cleaner. We can’t wait to come back to experience this wonderful spot in the warm weather.

Midweek stay with family

Beautiful view, really breathtaking. Definitely the biggest plus! Furthermore a nice and cozy cabin with clean floors, surfaces, fridge and bathroom. The master bedroom was amazing, with those sliding doors to the deck and the view from your bed! Only one small minus: the towels provided were all stained and the cutlery, glasses, mugs, plates, etc. weren't clean either. cutlery/glasses/plates in the kitchclean either.

Amazing Views and Cozy Cabin

The Cozy Cabin is breathtaking. Between the view and the newly renovated primary bedroom and bathroom you get the best of all worlds. You still get a rustic cabin feel in the original portion of the cabin now combined with a massive primary suite complete with gas fireplace. Waking up to the beautiful view of the river and mountains was so amazing! The cabin is clean and the kitchen is well equipped. You are only a short drive to town and the entrance to the Shenandoah so you really get the best of all worlds! I can’t say enough about how fantastic this spot is to stay!

Cozy with a great view!

My husband and I really enjoyed our anniversary getaway at Cozy Cabin. The new bedroom and bathroom are amazing and the view from the bedroom is spectacular. The new deck is great as well. The only downside we found to the cabin is that the kitchen isn't as stocked as it could be. Also, this is in the description and is extremely misleading, " The pathway to the river is quite an adventure with the wooden foot-bridge and stairway that takes you to the river’s edge for swimming, fishing or just dipping your toes." The pathway is actually a hazard and there's no way to make it to the river as the stairs and foot bridge are rotten. Other than that, the cabin is a great place to go to get away. It's close enough to town to get whatever you need and we even found a few nice restaurants. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing transformation at the cozy cabin!

The communication from our host was punctual and professional and we greatly appreciate you giving us the opportunity to experience the vacation of a lifetime. .My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at cozy cabin. This weekend getaway has been much-needed for us and our inner peace. The moment we walked through the door of the cabin we both felt different. My husband and I were almost speechless for the first couple of hours and unsure why. as the days transpired, we found happiness that we never imagined but that we truly wanted. my husband and I love each day with great purpose due to my husband, having a terminal brain, disease, which is progressing quickly. I want to be able to remember this years from now and be able to come and feel that happiness we had during our stay this weekend. My husband said to me “My only hope for you is at that once I’m gone I will have given you enough love to last a lifetime” yours truly, Jamie and Tiffany

Rustic Luxury

This is our second stay in one of John's properties and will definitely stay again. The Cozy Cabin -our new favorite - was recently renovated this year and features an amazing King bedroom with spectacular views of the mountains and river below. The cabin had everything we could ever want/need for a peaceful getaway. We appreciate that we are permitted to bring our little dogs with us as they absolutely loved it as well. Please note that it is critical to read the check-in instructions in advance of the trip (they are very thorough and easy to understand) and make a note of the gate code and door code before you arrive as there is no service until you connect to the wifi (great connection) after you enter the cabin. Unrelated to the cabin itself, I have a few things to mention about the area. We really enjoyed the Pavemint BBQ restaurant (dog friendly) in Front Royal and highly recommend. The town of Luray (about 30 minute drive) is a lot of fun - the gift shops and restaurants in town are great and the caverns are probably the best I've ever seen. Lastly (and I hope no one ever needs to use this info), we had a health emergency with one of our dogs this trip and needed to utilize the 24 hour emergency vet in Winchester (a pretty easy 40 minute drive from the cabin). They were kind, thorough and reasonably priced (compared to the ER vets in our home area). Thanks to John and his team for another great getaway to the area.
