Bed and Breakfast in Whatuwhiwhi

"We arrived late, it was dark. Great communication but when we got the key it was a little hard to follow the map as the area wasnt lit up that well and the signage was poor. When we got inside there were a few bugs 🐛. I went to boil the jug to make a bottle for my infant but the jug was really dirty. The sink couldnt see if it was hot or cold, could only get one element to work. Unable to connect to the wifi following the instructions. Not able to discuss with staff due to us arriving so late. Its very picturesque when we woke in the morning. I do wish we could have stayed longer."

"Just wonderful! Everything was great from location to rooms and especially the views. Mark was a fabulous host helping us with roads open, closures due to torrential rain to get back to Auckland. We couldn’t get out much but what a perfect retreat in inclement weather."

"I have given a 4-star rating, but if there was a 4.5 it would have been that! Everything was really lovely, the view, the food, the bed was comfortable, the staff were excellent, it was clean.... But, there were a few maintenance issues that should be addressed. The biggest issue is that the light switch in the bathroom is faulty - doesn't stay on unless you wiggle the switch a bit. I'd say either the switch is loose or the wiring is a bit dodgy. Either way, that needs to be fixed. Other more minor issues are: The curtain was hanging off the curtain rail in the bedroom, the shower would not drain properly (we fixed that ourselves by pouring hot water down the drain, but clearly the drain needs a proper clean), the shower rose leaked (I think it's the wrong shower head on the hose), the heat pump/air conditioner did not work in the lounge, it didn't work when turning on at the machine, and there was no remote control. Overall a very enjoyable stay and these issues did not detract from our enjoyment, but they should be addressed."
