With strict COVID-19 precautions to follow, travel looks a bit different today. These are some helpful things to know before you hop on that plane to Western Kentucky:

• Understand what rules and restrictions apply to both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check in advance.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to lower it briefly for ID purposes. Travellers who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• Rather than handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it straight on the reader yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag for scanning.
• Remove items from your pockets, such as your wallet, coins and keys, and place them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.
