The MoBay beach to come to when you want a fun-packed day, Walter Fetcher has go-karts, jet-skis, banana boats and much more.
A crescent-shaped beach, pinched between the sheltering wave-breaks off of Montego Bay's Hip strip, Walter Fletcher Beach is known as 'the fun one' among MoBay's many scintillating beaches. Of course it has the crystal-clear waters, pristine white-sand and peerless tropical sun – ingredients that make the beaches of this part of Jamaica so popular. But it also has the AquaSol Theme Park, MoBay's premier location for thrills-and-spills.Like many of the area's beaches, it's open to all, but there is a small charge to get in. If you want to keep it simple, you can just hire a lounger, and lie-back to soak up the Caribbean sun. But you may find it difficult to stay put for long – there's a whole lot of excitement here, just waiting to be kick-started.AquaSol has a big slice of that fun – with its go-kart track, tennis courts and water slide complex – but it's the wonderfully shallow bay that offers the most scope for adventure. Put your snorkel and mask on and you'll be engrossed in a watery world of wonder, swimming with its shifting shoals of fish. Hire a glass-bottomed boat, and you'll be able to spy on the splendour of its coral reefs.Pedal boats, kayaks and wave-runners give older kids the chance to go off on their own mini-adventures. And, if want to make a bigger splash, there's a ride on the bay's banana boat, or jet-skis for hire. Back on the beach itself, as the afternoon slips away, and things cool down, you'll find many locals arriving for a game of beach volley-ball. The great thing about Walter Fetcher is that, while the beach has more than enough to keep you entertained, the restaurants, bars and shops of MoBay are only just around the corner. So if you're looking for a fully-featured beach experience – and a little bit more – Walter Fletcher is waiting for you.
