I was well cared for at the House with No Nails! The property is beautiful & clean, & in a gorgeous rural setting set amidst mountains, big blue skies, & farm animals. The house is an easy 25 minute drive from the Hobbiton set in Matamata, which was my plan while in this area of NZ. Highly recommended!
What a lovely finding! Staying with Jen and Dewi was an absolute pleasure. Everything at The House With No Nails is done with such love and care. It was a unique and amazing experience. Thank you for making me feel like home from the time I arrived until the last minute. And thank you for sharing such beautiful moments with me. I will always remember this place, its stories, but mostly its people.
Jen was phenomenal. Incredible property manager, person, and host. Incredible house, the PERFECT place to stay if one is planning a Hobbiton visit. Not to be missed!
The host Jen was very welcoming and full of advice about the local area and what to visit and where to eat.The rooms were perfect and the shower was amazing. At great place to wake up in and to end the day. I would love to return here if we every visit again.
Amazing place with a piece of quiet. Unique design and building with different themes in each room. The owners showed the best of hospitality to all guests. They set the bar high which is definitely from their hearts. Sitting at the backyard and enjoying wonderful breakfast with spectacular view. This is always one of the unforgettable experiences in my life. Thank you for all stories you shared and gave us a refreshing mind!
This stay was a highlight of my trip. The hosts were most welcoming and informative about the area. The house is unusual. The owner builder was happy to explain the construction method. I am very glad I chose too stay at this property.
Our only regret is that we couldn't spend longer at the House with No Nails; Jen and Dewi are lovely, gracious hosts, and Jen had great suggestions for local walks which we simply didn't have the time to take -- would love to come back someday!
Beautiful house. We arrived at night and the stars were amazing! Not many lights in the area, so made for great star gazing. Hostess was very welcoming, giving us a tour and explanation of the site. After a long day of traveling, it would have been nice to just get into the room to relax, but stayed and visited with the hosts and other guests. We were offered a choice of rooms, which was nice. Very beautiful interior and history of the house. The only reason I reviewed the amenities as so-so was for the bathroom. There was a nice big bathtub, but there were holes in the door from where the old lock had been. You could see right in from the hallway, and just stuffing toilet paper into those holes didn't feel adequate. The shower was in the far corner, so you could see it from the lock holes if you tried (I tried when no one was in there, for my own comfort). Otherwise, great place. Delicious breakfast served before we left for the morning. I was overwhelmed with suggestions and places to visit, but in a good way. Very helpful and the hosts were more than happy to make sure we knew all the good local secrets instead of just the touristy sites. Would recommend.
Superb accommodations and amazing hosts. Jen and Dewi make you feel completely at home. Delicious breakfast and wonderful sightseeing tips. Highly recommend!
Wonderful stay! The host was incredible and the history of the home very interesting. Our family loved our time there and want to go back in the future!
Jen & Dewi were warm & gracious hosts that took a personal interest in our comfort and shared their great local knowledge for site-seeing. Definitely go see Weirere Falls, though the climb is challenging. Beautiful! Pretty close to Hobbiton. The house was unique and we loved hearing the story of how they built it by hand. The rooms were comfy; the breakfast delicious. If you're looking for a quiet respite in the country in a lovely house with great hosts, this is it!
