The town itself is a pleasant, peaceful place with a good selection of accommodations. But its real selling point is its proximity to the stunning countryside and beaches of the Jervis Bay area.
The town is one of several scattered along the coastal area of Jervis Bay. Vincentia is an excellent starting point for exploring these other towns and the beautiful beaches that accompany them. Follow the White Sands Walk south from Vincentia’s lovely Greenfield Beach all the way along to Hyams Beach. This quiet spot is known for its bright, clean sands, which hold the Guinness World Record for being the whitest in the world. Pass through gorgeous Chinamans Beach on the way. Look out to the ocean as you walk and see if you can spot a pod of dolphins or even a humpback whale.
Other marine creatures you might meet on this walk include fur seals and penguins. After reaching Hyams Beach, follow the Scribbly Gum Track to return to Greenfield Beach without doubling back on yourself. This scenic route leads inland, through leafy landscape populated by a range of protected bird species.
In this area, the world beneath the waves is as stunning as the one above. See it up close by joining a guided dive tour. Expect to see an array of beautiful fish, and perhaps even some swimming penguins. Other watersports to take part in include kiteboarding, kayaking and canoeing.
Head to Vincentia Golf Club when you need a break from the beach. As you play, try not to be distracted by the splendor of the scenery.
Vincentia makes for a perfect weekend escape from Sydney. Rent a car and drive here in under 3 hours. Once in Vincentia, spread out your towel, dig your toes into the sand and forget the city ever existed.
