Borgo Vescine

10/10 Excellent

"There are no words to describe our experience at this incredibly beautiful and wonderful charming several century old village resort in Chianti. It was everything you imagined Italy to be in wine country. Probably one of my favorite places I have ever stayed at, and I’ve stayed at hundreds of of places around the world. The staff was wonderful, the accommodations were just super cool. It was once a village dating back over 100+ years. It was truly remarkable that the owner discovered it and restored it, creating a truly wonderful experience and beautiful Tuscany. We definitely will stay here every time we go to Tuscany in the future. This is a must-stay place!"

hu Firenze Certosa camping in town

8/10 Good

"Great location, superior tent was really nice with the en-suite and balcony. Easy check in. Staff friendly and helpful. Downsides were no designated parking space for us despite not all tents being occupied. Also bread given out at dinner were not free despite us not asking for them and at €6 a bag it was not great value. The bread was pretty hard and tasteless! Regardless I would recommend a stay here in the heart of Tuscany and within half an hour bus ride into Florence ♥️🇮🇹"

Castelfalfi

10/10 Excellent

"Get ready to be impressed if you stay here. Every staff member from our arrival to our departure genuinely greeted us and welcomed us and many remembered our name. They always asked if we needed anything or offered help or suggestions in a genuine “we want to help way”. The concierge before our stay was ultra responsive, during our stay they were always present. You want attention to detail, Castelfalfi has it covered. Drinks are carefully made and delivered. Turn down service straightened the room, put little clothes under anything we had on the bathroom sink or room table, a new bookmark was left next to my book on the nightstand, cords were always wrapped and made to look tidy, I could go on and on. The food in the various restaurants was amazing. The little meat and cheese shop made a tremendous& fresh sandwich sliced up right in front of us on fresh baked bread. The view of sunset from the back deck had many guests out watching for good reason. The spa pool was great and the gym was pretty big. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want. Want fresh honey? There was a station with a honeycomb taken from their property…it drips fresh honey into a tray that empties into a bowl for you. The wine tasting was fun and delicious and worth it. Everything is on site and you will not want to leave the property during your stay or at the end of your trip. Castelfalfi- I hope and pray I return some day, thank you!!"

Hotel Borgo San Luigi

10/10 Excellent

"Borgo San Luis is a luxury destination! The four of us were treated as honored guests of great renown. The grounds were wide, varied, and immaculate. The breakfasts were special events for us foodies, and the swimming pool was refreshing even in October!. Parking was free, secure, and accessible. We easily saw why the Borgo was a destination for the weddings, feasts, and meetings that were taking place at the time of our visit -- but they were never intrusive. The staff were multi-lingual and honestly could not do enough for us. Should you ever desire a dream from which that you did not want to awaken, visit Borgo San Luis."

Fattoria il Milione Agriturismo

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed for 14 days and our experience was very nice. Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, Our apartment was nice and cozy, The one thing I would recommend is to state in advertising that it is located 2 miles from town and no public transportation. One must rent a car to get down to town or pay Taxi fees of $50.00+ to get back and forth."

Mormoraia

8/10 Good

"Great location close to San Gimignano for day trips Siena, volterra, etc. Beautiful views and very peaceful. Very clean and comfortable hotel, with gorgeous 360 views from rooms. Unfortunately it’s very expensive to use the amenities, so we didn’t use them. The staff are very nice and helpful. The restaurant was OK. The breakfast was good but not great (coffee was great though). We enjoyed their wine."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Villa Del Monte?

The best area to stay in Villa Del Monte is within the historic centre, specifically around Piazza del Comune.

This area is the heart of Villa Del Monte, offering a central and convenient base for exploring. You'll find charming cobbled streets, historic buildings, and a selection of local shops, restaurants, and cafes. The Piazza del Comune itself is a lovely public square, often hosting local events, and the Duomo di San Martino is a prominent landmark nearby.

For couples looking for a romantic and scenic escape, staying within the historic centre is ideal. You'll be within easy walking distance of intimate trattorias, wine bars, and art galleries. The evenings are particularly pleasant for a stroll, enjoying the historic architecture and the quiet atmosphere.

Travellers seeking a luxurious and secluded experience will find excellent options just outside the historic centre, located in the surrounding hills. These properties often offer stunning views of the Tuscan countryside, private pools, and extensive gardens.

When is the best time to go to Villa Del Monte?

The best time to go to Villa Del Monte is typically from late April to early June and again from early September to late October.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with warm days and comfortable evenings, superb for enjoying outdoor activities and sightseeing without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find the countryside lush and green in spring, with blooming wildflowers, while autumn brings the spectacular colours of the harvest season and excellent opportunities for wine tasting.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, these shoulder seasons are ideal. You'll experience fewer crowds at popular attractions and restaurants, allowing for a more intimate and relaxed trip. Many local festivals celebrating food and wine also take place during these times, offering a deeper insight into Tuscan culture.

Families, especially those with younger children, might prefer late spring or early autumn. The milder temperatures are more comfortable for exploring and enjoying the villa's amenities, like the swimming pool, without the risk of overheating.
