Room advertised with air conditioning, but that was completely broken in the room. We were there in April, and I can only imagine how terrible that would be in a hotter month. Slept with the windows open, which led to bugs and a lot of noise outside. Hotel staff for the Piccola Fenice is only available 9am-6pm, which are exactly the hours that you likely will not be in your room as you explore Venice. The regular Hotel La Fenice seemed nicer and the staff there were very helpful - you could go there for guidance but they weren’t very helpful for rooms in the Piccola.
The negative aspects of the smokers room are to be expected based on the advertisement, but it seemed to have basically been entirely neglected in cleaning because of this.
Would look for other options if staying in Venice.
