I appreciate the care and communication, everything worked out perfectly for my needs. Thank you Justin for everything I will definitely come back again! 👍
This basement apartment is near a busy road, but it was very quiet. Our host was quick to respond to our messages, and arranged to be at the apartment so he could orient us and give us the key. The kitchen was well supplied with basic equipment for making simple meals. The laundry detergent, clothes washer and dryer in the unit came in handy. Within a 10-minute walk, we bought a bus pass, found a friendly Catholic parish, and ate at Asian food, including great Vietnamese sandwiches. The attached photo is from one of our walks to the sandwich shop.
The cost was great; all amenities you would need were included. Good restaurants down the street and easy transit to downtown, walking distance to Nanaimo station, and bus stops by the location. Main living area was really clean and comfortable to sleep in.

The photos were accurate. I should have looked at them more closely. You enter the unit through a basement laundry/furnace room, which also contained a clean but very basic bathroom, and a table that served as kitchen area. What the photos couldn’t show was the overwhelming smell of cat pee. (Admittedly I wanted pet friendly accommodation because I have a dog). What really upset me was, the 3 windows in this basement sleeping area did not open, and I could find no smoke/carbon monoxide detectors anywhere. This wouldn’t be legal in Ontario. Is it legal in BC?
