"We went to the dining room the first evening of arrival to order some dinner after a long day of travel with delays and other problems, and were told it would be over an hour to get served because they were busy with room service. This was around 8pm in the evening. They shouldn’t have a dining room up if they aren’t any more efficient than that."

"The lobby was nice. I am a single woman traveling alone and was put in a room directly opposite the elevators. The door had a half inch gap that I put a towel against to block the noise. The lock was a chain across the door. The interior was shabby and the tub didn’t drain as I was showering. I was surprised because this brand is usually better and the price gave me high expectations. Too pricey for what I got, which was essentially a three star hotel."

"We booked last minute, and the area was fine. 5 minutes drive from downtown, didn't feel unsafe parking there, even if the parking lot is in desperate need of repair. The outside of the building is the same as any Comfort Inn, and the inside looked fine from the start. Elevator is old but functional, and the hallways were nothing exciting. The room was great -- comfortable bed, clean bathroom and carpet, refrigerator, microwave, TV. Free breakfast in the morning included waffles, cereal, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, pastries. Would stay here again, especially considering the price saved by avoiding the downtown area. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly in check-in and check-out."

"There was trash all over the property, my room didn't get cleaned until I said something to the front desk and that was the days after I arrived. The staff basically ignored my calls to the front desk no answer. The hall room 124 i was in smelled like weed. The whole hallway was smelling like weed. The breakfast was good. That was about it."

"We stayed at this hotel two nights because we were in town for a dance competition for my daughter. I got a text message the day before we were supposed to check in that they were undergoing some construction/ renovations. I had the hotel booked for several months. They told me if I needed to cancel my reservation they understood… but where am I gonna find another hotel last minute for a reasonable price? Our room was great. It was totally renovated and beautiful beds were comfortable no complaints there. The lobby was a complete mess, due to construction. Only breakfast available was bagels and yogurt. Front parking lot is closed due to construction so parking was only in the back and it was very limited. I was very worried that we weren’t going to find a parking spot the one night but luckily there was a few left. You had to go up and downstairs to get to that parking lot. The check-in girl was amazing. She was so friendly and did the best she could to explain about the construction. I bet once they’re done with all their construction it’s going to be beautiful, but it was kind of inconvenient."

"The Fontaine is in our rotation when traveling to KC. It continues to be very suitable for its location, cleanliness, comfort and value. Are the rooms in need of updating? maybe, but not to extent of calling them tired. We love visiting the bar on the 7th floor off the pool deck, though pool was not open for the season yet on this stay. Some of the best happy hour drinks you'll find anywhere! On matter of bathroom towel racks, none except one in the shower, not sure why there aren't any on the bathroom walls. Regardless, we'll be back, "

"Fabulous 1916 property. We so enjoyed our stay. Great interiors, very clean. Extra amenities such as cream for the coffee. Highly recommend!!!"
