Established in 2001, the Universeum’s purpose is to introduce visitors of all ages to the miracles of science and nature. The exhibits are spread over seven floors.
Watch sharks, eels, rays and vibrant tropical fish swim around at Ocean World. Then, wander through the warm, humid air of the Indoor Rainforest. Look for real sloths hanging from the trees, listen for monkeys calling from afar and keep an eye out for butterflies fluttering through the canopy.
The Space Zone simulates an international space station, where you have to solve some common astronaut problems. Discover how to use a space toilet and how to sleep without gravity holding you down.
Visit the Crime Lab to learn the science of police detection. Try lying without setting off the lie detector and see if you can tell a forged banknote from a real one.

A visit to Scandinavia’s largest science museum can easily fill an entire day. There are several restaurants within the complex, including a takeaway barbecue stand.
Universeum is located near Liseberg Amusement Park in the south of the city. The museum is open every day. During the summer, opening hours extend into the evening. Children under the age of 3 enter for free, and those under 17 at a discount. Check the Universeum’s website for information on family discounts. Come by car or tram from the city centre. There is a fee to park in the area.
