"Review for The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa – Saturday 6th May 2026 We had a wonderful stay at the Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa on Saturday 6th May and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the standard of cleanliness really stood out. Our room was spotless, and the same high standard continued throughout the entire hotel – everything felt fresh, well-maintained, and beautifully presented. The breakfast was absolutely AMAZING! The selection was excellent, everything was cooked to perfection, and the quality of the ingredients really shone through. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in a long time. However, what really made our stay special was Mel on reception. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. Mel is the friendliest, most helpful person you could hope to meet – she was genuinely lovely to chat with and gave us brilliant recommendations of places to visit in the area. Her warmth and professionalism made a big difference to our experience. She is a real credit to the hotel and the whole team. We left feeling relaxed, well-rested, and very well looked after. "Check in process was unclear. Felt like I was inconvenienceng staff by needing to check in. Room was really cold first night. I advised staff of this in morning and was given a heater for second night which helped. The restaurant had not recived their food order so many items were missing. Light in bathroom kept turning off on its own. The only real positive was the breakfast which was good, and the staff member on in the morning was polite and attentive. "

"We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our family Christmas! Ty Haul is beautifully designed with a well considered layout and finished to a high standard. We had a great amount of space for 6 people both to relax and do activities together. Looked even better when we arrived than we expected and was spotlessly clean, complete with Christmas decor. High praise for how well equipped the house is - from a tv in every room and good internet to coffee machine and air fryer. Two ovens and a great variety of kitchenware allowed us to cook Christmas dinner with ease. This included small details like slippers and board games- which we appreciated. The space allowed us to cook all together, relax, have comfortable family dinners, and felt like a home away from home due to the amenities and inviting design. Perfect space for sharing family time but also big comfortable bedrooms for everyone to have their own space- complete with huge beds and good quality mattresses which meant we all got great rest. It was freezing outside but the heating worked great! Very close to lots of beautiful sights such as the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. We were so lucky we chose this house for our festive family gathering - we even decided to ask to stay a night longer as we didn’t want to leave. "Despite the weather which was really wet for 2 1/2 days, we enjoyed our stay and the area is wonderful. Despite the huge space, the kitchen area is tight around the sink and cooker, and the sink is quite shallow. Not much room for storing toiletries in a couple of the en-suites, but these are quite minor points. The owner was fabulous and extremely helpful. North Wales is beautiful and the Llangollen railway quite enchanting."
