Sue had great communication which made it very easy to find and check in to the accommodation. The apartment itself was excellent. Lovely view across to the sea and everything was exactly as described and shown in the photos with a very generous welcome pack which was much appreciated.

Fabulous little flat

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The flat was as advertised. You could sit in the back and see the ocean. Cute town. Lovely place for breakfast. Sue, the owner was fantastic. Would definitely stay again.

Brilliant stay in a special location

Sue the owner was so good and thoughtful she made sure everything was just right! From the beautiful home made welcome meal,to all the amenities in the home! It’s the perfect place to stay in Cornwall and I will be recommending the cockle shell to all my friends and family

Perfect location for a getaway

Fabulous apartment with an incredible view of the beach. The sunsets are stunning. The host couldn’t do enough and we were blown away with the hospitality and cleanliness. Highly recommend… we will be back

Fantastic holiday apartment, very nice hosts

The apartment is very tasteful, high quality and very clean. The location is great, with a view of the sea and its own garage. The hosts lovingly presented various treats as a welcome, such as scones, wine and waffles. It couldn't be better.

Couple getaway

Very relaxing early spring holiday. The apartment was very clean with everything you need and more. The freshly prepared meal and bottle of wine was a very special touch which was much appreciated. The view of the sea from the apartment was amazing, we even had a couple of days when we could sit in the garden and watch the sea in the sunshine. Highly recommend a stay.

A perfect apartment for us and very well appointed with everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack and meal for our first night was a lovely touch. Stunning

I booked this property for a 4 night stay to celebrate my husbands 70th we arrived to find not only a beautiful apartment and location but a home cooked meal in the fridge and lots of little extras. We are so delighted with our experience we decided to stay a couple extra nights. If you want a nice chilled out break with views of the waves and surfers this is the place to come. Area has wonderful coastline and lots of walks.

A great place, fantastic view, friendly hosts. I enjoyed my stay very much. 10/10. Really the only thing to be aware of is Google maps will try to get you to take a right instead of a left.

Fantastic place with everything you might need

We absolutely loved our stay here. The property has everything you could need for a lovely stay by the sea, with the most comfortable lounger ever! We happily spent hours just laying on the lounger looking out at the sea. There were lots of lovely welcoming touches such as bread and milk left, a cream tea and fresh flowers, which made us feel especially welcome. It was a bonus to have an outside area and table and chairs. We can't wait to book again!

A perfectly sized apartment situated in an amazing location with beautiful views over the ocean. We were blessed with fantastic weather but this apartment could not have been better. The host was exceptionally welcoming and everything had been thought of to make the holiday special. 5* all round.

Absolute heaven.

We have been holidaying in Cornwall for over 30 years and have never stayed anywhere as perfect as this. The apartment is equipped and decorated to an incredibly high standard and the owners have thought of everything. The location is superb, a few steps away from a beautiful beach and the coastal path. Sue communicated regularly with us to make sure we were enjoying our stay and she left luxurious gifts such as Prosecco, a home-cooked meal etc. I can’t recommend this holiday accommodation Highly enough

A wonderful stay in a great home

Absolutely loved this stay, far more than I anticipated. If totally honest, I was a little concerned about the property when I arrived as the outside is a little rough and ready, but as soon as we entered, wow! All of my fears disappeared. The apartment is smaller but perfectly formed. Absolutely spotless, wonderfully furnished, with all of the comforts we could ever need and more. A wonderful array of welcome gifts and a fantastic home prepared meal greeted us along with sweet treats, doggie treats and Prosecco! Perfectly located, right on the beach with wonderful views. I cannot recommend cockleshell highly enough, we had a wonderful stay and felt very warmly welcomed and incredibly comfortable. We will come back for sure

A Lovely Cottage in a Perfect Location

Absolutely lovely cottage to spend two weeks in. The cottage is quiet and peaceful and spotlessly clean, the view is perfection and Porthtowan is an ideal location. I am already hoping to return. Sue, the host, has many thoughtful touches around the cottage - the welcome night meal in the fridge was much appreciated. It is absolutely crucial to realize that you will lose cell service for the last two miles or so of the journey and that there will be almost no cell service in Porthtowan - your ability to communicate will only exist once you’re on the (really good) Wi-Fi service in the cottage or in one of the pubs/cafes. Therefore, you need to either pre-load a saved route on your satnav or print out driving directions before departing for the cottage.

Apartment with absolutely everything in idyllic spot

We booked last minute with a little bit of unexpected nice weather forecast. Communication with the owner was absolutely spot on, and with a long journey down she thoughtfully prepared a meal for us, some wine and even a little treat for our small elder dog. As soon as we walked through the door we were delighted with our choice. The apartment is exceptionally well laid out for a couple and the views over to Porthtowan beach from either the living room or the garden were wonderful. There was nothing that we wanted for during our stay and it felt like very much a home from home with every small detail thought of. In the bay itself there is a well stocked village shop and a couple of good pubs, the Blue Bar in particular had a really great vibe, with lots of surfers and tourists using it, and had excellent views and food. I recommend whole heartedly this apartment if you want a peaceful break, where you can really unwind, but also located well enough for trips out throughout Cornwall. We will be back.
