"We had a lovely stay ant the location is as expected in a great little part of the national park. The place is as in the pictures and whilst we didnt use the pool it looks fab and the hot tub was ideal. The local restaurant was very welcoming and the nearby old bridge could hsve been a scene out of Brigadoon..... fantastic. There are the useual few quirkes with staying in older remote towns but it shouldn't put you off as presumably if you are looking at staying here you will appreciate that...

"Front desk staff was welcoming and extremely helpful. Breakfasts, and breakfast staff were very good. Housekeeping was also very good. Views from the hotel were beautiful and the location is excellent. Parking was relatively easy. Hotel pool and surrounding area was very tired looking and needed umbrellas or some sort of shaded area and decor. Rooms were very dated and carpet was very worn. We booked three rooms and two of the couples commented that their beds were uncomfortable and needed to be replaced. All of us felt that it was a good place to go if you are only staying for a short time. At one time this hotel would have been stunning. With some renovations it could be a real gem again."

"This quaint, beautiful property overlooking the Douro River was breathtaking! In the 'valley of the wolf', the vantage point of the valley was amazing and beyond peaceful. The room was cozy, balcony shared but not intrusive, inclusive breakfast was delicious and the 'honor system' for drinks made you feel like home! It was a perfect stay for our all-go time tasting port. The village was charming as well."

This is also the most beautiful and well-maintained property I have ever visited, and was such a peaceful, relaxing escape from the major cities. I also greatly appreciated that the property only accommodates a small number of guests, which made the stay feel very private and intimate, while still allowing guests the opportunity to get to know one another. I would highly recommend Quinta do Vallado if you are planning to stay in the Douro Valley."
