About this property
North Cottage | Shibuya Studio | Close to Meiji Shrine
✨ Highlights North Cottage is a rare, self-contained private studio in one of Tokyo’s most sought-after central neighborhoods, just moments from Yoyogi Park and the gardens of Meiji Shrine
🌳⛩️.
Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac street, it offers a calm, local living experience while being exceptionally well connected to the rest of the city.
Studios like this are uncommon so close to Shinjuku and Shibuya. While compact (as expected in central Tokyo), the space is thoughtfully designed and has been carefully maintained over many years of hosting. It’s a well-loved home that continues to offer comfort, character, and excellent value for couples or solo travellers.
🏠 The Space North Cottage is a fully private, self-contained studio attached to a family home, with its own separate entrance. The studio combines sleeping, living, and dining into one comfortable open space, offering an authentic Tokyo stay rather than a standard hotel room.
This home is best suited for 1–2 guests, providing a cozy and efficient layout that’s ideal for short city breaks or longer stays.
Please note: the studio is located next to the train line. While this makes getting around extremely convenient, some noise is audible when express trains pass. The studio is fitted with double glazing and a sound blanket, and many guests mention this balance positively in their reviews.
🛏 Sleeping Arrangements The studio includes: One full-size double bed Tempur-Pedic memory foam topper for a comfortable night’s sleep 😴
All bedding is made prior to arrival, with fresh linens and towels provided.
👶 A portable baby cot / crib is available on request at no extra charge 👶
🍳 Kitchen & Amenities The kitchenette is equipped with everything needed for simple meals and daily living:
Gas burner Microwave & toaster Coffee maker, rice cooker & kettle Fridge Cookware, crockery, and cutlery for two guests Complimentary coffee and tea ☕
Additional amenities include: Washing machine and clothes dryer inside the studio Private bathroom with bathtub and shower 🛁 Fire TV Stick and cable TV with English-language channels 📺 Fast home Wi-Fi suitable for streaming and remote work 📶
Due to the compact layout, luggage space is best suited for standard suitcases. For large luggage or sports gear, we recommend Japan’s reliable and affordable luggage delivery services.
👫 Ideal for Couples North Cottage is especially popular with couples and solo travellers who want to stay somewhere quiet, well located, and genuinely local. Step outside and you’ll find bakeries, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, and 24-hour convenience stores just minutes away 🥐☕🛒
If North Cottage isn’t available for your dates, feel free to ask — we manage other thoughtfully designed homes nearby.

The location is fantastic and the neighbourhood peaceful and beautiful firstly. The cottage itself has everything you need and more and Ashley and Tracey provided a lot of info and offers of help and support if we had questions or troubles with anything. We would definitely stay here again and re commend to others!
We very much enjoyed our stay at North Cottage. Check in was seemless. The place had everything we needed. And the location was perfect - a slightly quietly oasis very close the busy Shinjuku.
We stayed for 1 week and from day 1 we were well taken care of, we had everything we needed for our stay and the host’s recommendation for dining was great. We couldn’t ask for a better host (Ash).

Very nice and homely little apartment. The hosts are very kind and helpful. The location is superb. All needs are met. Would recommend without hesitation.
This was a perfect place to begin our 21 day Japan trip. English speaking hosts were helpful and available. The location is convenient for accessing the train system for getting everywhere in Tokyo. Also nearby Yoyogi park is lovely. Plenty of little restaurants nearby. A nice quiet neighborhood in the center of the city.

Such a great location, amazing communication and lovely in person welcome. Thank you!!
Excellent property. Easy to get to and conveniently located. The early morning walk to Meiji-Jingu was awesome, particularly with the apartment being so close. Would definitely recommend.
We had a great time staying here. It's just outside the hustle and bustle. So you can feel a little bit relaxed while also getting into the action quite easily. If you're sensitive to train noise, this place is right next to the tracks. We didn't find it terribly disturbing. But something of note.Otherwise great place would recommend. recommend.
Our stay at North Cottage was amazing. The property is located in an absolutely outstanding neighborhood. We were amazed by the variety of good restaurants and neighborhood conveniences. We tried to visit all of them, but we just kept finding more!
This location is so very convenient for getting to just about anywhere. There is a local train line just a 5 minute walk away, that will take you Shinjuku station, and from there you can get anywhere. We often just walked to Yoyogi station, a very pleasant 20 minute stroll, to connect to other major lines.
Shibuya was also very close, and while the train would take you there in minutes, we really loved the walk along the beautiful tree lined streets.
Yoyogi park is just 15 minutes away, and we certainly visited there often, it is truly one of the most beautiful parks in Tokyo, or just about anywhere!!
In short, you could not beat the location of this little suite.
Ash and Tracy were great, answering any questions we had in minutes!
We happened to be there during the Typhoon, and they were great about sending out instructions for preparing for this.
I will warn travelers, the cottage is not large. We prepared for this by not bringing too much luggage. However we found it all very doable, and the cottage had everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable.
I would definitely recommend this location, and we want to thank Ash and Tracy once again for being our hosts during our fantastic Japan visit.
This unit has everything you need, the location is perfect for those that want to use the rail network (we never used the bus) and those that want to eat out. Provision of mobile was appreciated.
We loved the nearby parks and landmarks, a walk each morning to Shibuya Crossing and back was a great way to start the day.

This was a wonderful location for three of us. Bus #55 right outside takes us to Shibuya. There's also an elevator which is a must with big luggages. Don't bring too many bags though as the apartment is very compact. This is Tokyo after all. Very clean and has everything we need and we were most impressed by how organized and efficient our host was. He sent us very useful tips and info more than a week before our trip and kept in touch from the time we arrived at the airport until we got to the apartment. Took the airport limousine to the Shibuya Excel Hotel and a cab from there to the apartment. We stayed a few days then visited Kyoto and Osaka and returned for the rest of our trip. We appreciated that we were always able to contact our host with questions. Highly recommend this place.

We absolutely loved it. Lovely, clean, quiet apartment in Shibuya, near the University. A very pleasant 15 minute walk to Shibuya Crossing, through a peaceful, upscale residential quarter that spills into a hip neighbourhood dotted with bistros, bakeries, restaurants, coffee shops and boutique stores before the madness of the shopping district. A 10 minute walk to the Metro at Yoyogi koen — 1 stop away from the trendy shops of Harajuku; 12 minutes to the Commuter rail station at Yoyogi Hachiman that had us in Shinjuku in 3 minutes flat. The apartment borders a major thoroughfare, and hailing a taxi requires very little effort, but it's also lined with an impressive bike path that would cut travel time down to minutes. For a quick meal, the Chicken soup and Bento restaurants right across the street fit the bill; but just a little further north, south and east, we found everything from ramen to crepes to smoked lamb bacon sandwiches and some of the finest coffee we've ever tasted.
DO buy a PASMO or SUICA card; and DO take advantage of the amazing rail and metro system that had us at the Great Buddha in Kamakura on the coast in just over an hour.
We took full advantage of the portable Wi-Fi which functioned very well throughout our travels, and did turn to our hosts for advice when needed — which was very much appreciated.
If fortune finds us in this amazing city with its wonderful people again, we'll come calling to Q House.
