The staff in reception and in the breakfast restaurant were exceptionally good. My niece’s boyfriend went out to his car late at night and didn’t have his room card with him. The lady on reception made absolutely sure that he was who he said he was, and personally checking with my niece before allowing him entry. Excellent awareness and professionalism. Thank you.

This property does not look much from the outside. However, one can’t judge a book by its cover. This property has been newly renovated. The staff are all exceptional and very helpful. The good is good. The amenities are great. A fabulous breakfast included in the price. Buffet continental and a-la-carte hot meals all included. Overly garden area. Very nice bar and lounge uk relax and a great location. Highly recommend.

So close to Stratford Railway Station. The jubilee line connects you to city circuit so all London attractions are just a short train trip away with services running back to back all day.

Very nice hotel a short walk from Stratford train station and Westfield shopping centre. Friendly reception with free welcome drink which was appreciated. A really nice room with excellent, quiet air conditioning. Comfy bed. The only negative was bar staff were more interested in their phones than serving customers but this seems to be the norm in England so not unique to this hotel.

Great hotel, a bit confusing lighting and electrical outlets, but didn’t bother us. Staffs were very friendly. Very close to bus stops and lots of restaurants.

Fantastic three nights at this hotel. My first time in London! Bethnal Green/Shoreditch is a lovely area if you’re not into the crazy city centre rush, but close enough to go in an out of the city as you please. Surrounded by great dining options, parks, cool vibes and street art. The only thing I can put a finger on is that the bathroom door in our room was slightly transparent, which meant it was not completely private from your friend/family in the room haha. But it wasn’t an issue for me....

Which area of Tilbury is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For budget-conscious solo travellers visiting Tilbury, focusing on areas with good transport links to the wider Essex region and London is key, as Tilbury itself has limited hotel options. Grays, a nearby town, offers more affordable accommodation choices and is well-connected.
Grays, just a short distance from Tilbury, is a practical base for those looking to save on accommodation. It boasts a selection of budget-friendly hotels and guesthouses. From Grays, solo travellers can easily catch a train to Tilbury Town station in about 5-10 minutes, making it convenient for accessing the Tilbury Cruise Terminal or other local attractions.
While Tilbury itself might not have a wide array of cheap hotels, its proximity to other towns like Grays provides accessible and economical lodging.
When is the most affordable time to visit Tilbury?
The most affordable time to visit Tilbury is generally during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October), outside of peak summer holidays and major events. During these months, you'll find better deals on accommodation and potentially cheaper transportation fares compared to the bustling summer period.
For solo travellers, visiting Tilbury in these quieter months offers a more relaxed experience without the crowds, making it easier to explore local attractions at your own pace. You can often snap up good deals on guesthouses or smaller hotels, particularly midweek. Keep an eye out for local market days or community events that might offer free or low-cost entertainment.
Families might also find these times advantageous for budget reasons. With fewer tourists, attractions like Tilbury Fort are less crowded, and you can often find family-friendly accommodation at reduced rates.
Is Tilbury a budget-friendly destination?

Many of Tilbury's attractions are free or low-cost. The Tilbury Fort, a significant historical site, offers an affordable entry fee, and exploring the town's connection to the Windrush generation can be done through various local markers and historical trails at no charge. The riverside location also provides pleasant, free walks. Eating out can be economical too, with local pubs and cafes offering traditional British fare at very reasonable prices.

You can delve into the past by exploring the Tilbury Fort, an English Heritage site where entry to the grounds and outer defences is often free, allowing you to walk in the footsteps of soldiers guarding the Thames estuary.
Another excellent free option is a stroll along the Thames Path. This scenic walking route offers fantastic views of the river and passing ships, providing a tranquil escape and a chance to observe the local wildlife. For those interested in local history, the Tilbury Riverside Gardens provide a pleasant green space with interpretive boards detailing the area's maritime heritage, superb for a relaxing afternoon.
