Many regional and international sporting events still take place in the park, which is located 4.8 kilometres (3 miles) northwest of the city centre. There are music concerts year-round in the outdoor Olympic Stadium and the indoor Olympic Hall.

The famous beer hall was initially founded in 1589 with the mission of brewing a special beer for the royal court, after Bavarian Duke Wilhelm V had become disenchanted with other local brews. Now, you can drink and eat on the same historic site in the centre of Munich.

The Viktualienmarkt is a vast market with hundreds of stalls dedicated to local and international food, souvenirs and works of art. Come to buy fresh produce, meats and bread for a picnic in one of Munich’s spacious gardens.
