Santarena Hotel at Las Catalinas

10/10 Excellent

"The room with the balcony was beautiful and clean. Nice to have French doors to open if we wanted. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Only had one issue, which was not the hotel's fault. The room next door had a dog that barked for over an hour. Hotel could not get a hold of owner. Staff finally went into room to quiet the dog."

"Our trip could not have been better! House: The house was beautiful and well maintained. It was spacious with lots of outdoor gathering spots which was perfect for our group of girls. Very secure with electric gates and a security guard at night. Kitchen is well equipped. Living areas are spacious too. Amenities: We enjoyed using the golf cart to explore the area and run to the local store to stock up on supplies. The house has a JBL stereo which was easy to transport outside for pool time. The pool area is great with a perfect view of the ocean and is equipped with floats, lounge chairs and towels. Location: Location! Location! Location! This was the perfect spot for our group. Walking distance to local bars, restaurants and markets. A short golf cart ride to Playa Flamingo Marina. Being on the beach was a bonus too. The view is amazing! Staff: From the time we started planning this trip to the time we left, communication was amazing. The team was so helpful answering my questions and helping us plan the perfect trip for a special celebration. Maria, our housekeeper and morning chef was amazing and tended to our every need; not to mention her breakfasts are delicious. Whitney & Kennedy were great putting up with my many questions. Thank you to Caesar for making sure the house was in tip top shape. Javier, what can we say about Javier? He was amazing and made our trip 100% perfect. From the time he picked us up from the airport to the time he dropped us off, he made sure that our experience was amazing. He goes above and beyond in everything he does. Keeping 7 women happy is not an easy task but he was up for the challenge. He is so passionate and knowledgeable that we got to learn a lot about the culture, wildlife, and history. Do not miss doing Rincon with him. He made sure we were where we needed to be to experience everything fully. He made sure that our birthday girl had a custom experience everywhere we went with birthday songs around every corner. We also did a river cruise where we started bright and early with a sunrise and roadside picnic. You must listen to him when he says get up early and you will see more animals ... and we did! He is a gem for sure. If you plan on doing any excursions, Javier is your guy. His positive energy and passion are contagious. He won't let you miss one thing! Villa Potrero Luxury Private Beachfront Home with Housekeeper, Concierge

"Catalina (concierge)was and is amazing. She was quick and responsive and took care of our every need and arranged everything we "suddenly" thought we wanted! The Chef, Kattya, well there are NOT enough stars for her. We felt like we were in a Michelin Star restaurant! She came every morning for full breakfast and one morning was brunch. We preferred tica and we had amazing tica I never knew existed. All the rooms were just the right size, had the kayaks hauled out and back for us, it was INCREDIBLE. We have stayed at other places that were newer and more expensive, but the whole experience at Villa Potrero has clearly jumped to the top of our experiences. The location is spot on and all we needed was a golf cart (Shout out to Blue Zone Carts and Simon also, A vehicles and service). Everything we wanted/needed was a text away and Catalina made it all happen! This is the perfect place for groups and families. Cannot say enough good things!!! Our number one recommendation!"

"Great house for our family birthday gathering. The kids loved the pool and access to the beach. The adults had enough space to either be together or separate. I would highly recommend this villa. Jimmy was amazing in setting everything up for us as well. We plan to come back!"

"It was amazing and near every store and many restaurants. Ezekiel and Rosita were exceptional hosts. They made us feel very comfortable and loved. Make sure you bring translator if you don’t speak Spanish. Neither one speaks or understands English"

"This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, and surrounded by nature, the hotel feels very natural vibes, it is not a chain hotel so people should that it is more like an Eco-resort. The bed was comfortable. The best part is the common areas where the pool is it is absolutely lovely and chill. The breakfast was great too! Would definetly stay the again."

"Everything about the property was great for our family. The location was ideal being in a small community with local restaurants steps away from the house. Tamarindo was an easy drive for more options. The layout of the house was great, offering each couple privacy from others. Nicely appointed kitchen. Beautiful beach is right out the backyard. The owner was very understanding when an unexpected change in plans came up and allowed us to modify the reservation. The onsite host was very accommodating with recommendations and assistance when needed. Highly recommend this property!"
