One of the most popular parks in Ho Chi Minh City, with plenty of activities, trees, flowers and beautiful landscaping.
If you find you need a break from the noise and crowds of downtown Ho Chi Minh City, head straight for Tao Dan Park. The park boasts 100,000-square metres of green space in a city where space is at a premium. It’s a peaceful spot where you can barely hear the noise of the vehicles that drive all around it. It’s home to over 1,000 trees and has tennis courts and a swimming pool adjacent to the park where you can relax, unwind and cool off from the heat.
The best time of day to visit is in the morning before the habitual heat and humidity of Vietnam arrives. Head there early and you can enjoy a stroll through the park and see the locals performing their tai chi routines in the shade of the nearby Buddhist temple.
At that time of day, you’ll also get to hear beautiful birdsong, as local people from all over the region come here with their birds to let them sing. Look closely and hidden away in the trees you may spot miniature replicas of Nha Trang’s Cham Tower and Hung King Temple.
On any day, you’ll find Tao Dan Park busy with both locals and visitors in search of a quiet, relaxing spot. You can spend plenty of quality time here, whether you want to sit on the grass and share a picnic or simply laze in the sunshine. If you’re bringing children, they will love the playground.
At dusk, visitors head to the park to enjoy a quiet evening stroll in the cooler temperatures. However, after dark, walking through the park isn’t recommended as it isn’t considered a safe place to be at night.
Tao Dan Park is always open to visitors, whether by day or night. It is situated right in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, the most easily accessible and tourist-friendly part of the city.
