Very well appointed property ideally situated in centre of Stratford. Breakfast was very generous with good choice of cerals and cooked items. Staff were friendly, approachable and efficient.
This is a hotel with a real sense of place. I loved the fact that the rooms were named after Shakespeare characters. The hotel was old but with all the modern conveniences (a lift, ensuite facilities).

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms quite small and could do with a little TLC. Beds really comfortable. Location perfect for everything. Breakfast had very good selection. Overall a good choice for a 2 night stay.
Welcoming and friendly. Room comfortable. The hotel is about to close for refurbishment- and it is looking pretty tired right now.
Very conveniently situated for the theatre.
A charming stay with an easy walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the waterfront. The room was quaint and comfortable with a large bathroom and great shower (inside a tub). The breakfast was a typical UK affair with a variety of breads, jams, fruit and hot foods served in a common room with close-together tables. The front rooms have low-beamed ceilings and lots of ambience.
All great as usual but no VAT receipt sent to my email address. Stayed lots of times here and usually very good

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Interesting historical property. Could do with a bit of tlc but excellent location.
Issue with the towel rail being too close to the toilet as i burnt my arm on it.
Really enjoyed our little overnighter here.
Absolutely stunning building. Nice size room with high ceiling in gorgeous Tudor style. Bed comfy nice bedding. Read some bad reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the carpet is a little old and the chair by the window but it’s all part of the charm.
Large modern bathroom.
Only negative was a little dust on the windowsills nothing to ruin a lovely comfy night sleep and lovely staff at check in too

Disappointing
Room was large and clean, bed comfortable. Lots of glasses and room service trays in all the corridors. Hotel desperately needs refurbishing, no atmosphere or style to the place. Shame as a waste of a potentially beautiful building
The Mercure in Stratford is an old building. This is not a 5 star resort.I say this as a positive statement. The world needs both.I love the vintage nature of The Mercure. It's a a perfect reprasentative of Stratford as a whole-English,old,
Beautiful and magical.I love the old beams, not a single right angle to be found.Wonderful sitting spaces, and a short walk to the beautiful park with canals.
