We were here for just one overnight. We found our stay to be very comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood, with plenty of room. We would stay at this home again if we were in the area.
It is updated and stylish. It’s so cute & cozy with it all being very accommodating! The beds are all very comfortable to sleep on. We all had a good night sleep! I would definitely come back stay!
The stay was absolutely perfect! My bridesmaids and I stayed for my wedding and getting ready. Perfect location, hosts are amazing and go above and beyond, the upstairs where the twin bed is in that nook is the PERFECT spot for pictures of dress and getting ready.
We had a wonderful stay at the 1896 guest house. It was a perfect landing spot after a couple full days of activities for my aunt’s 101st birthday. The house is so cozy and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more!
This house is so sweet but yet has plenty of room for guests. It has everything you need to spend a few days. It’s close enough to several towns with historic main streets, restaurants and antiques. We stayed I January but summer would offer even more things to do and enjoy.
We needed somewhere to stay for a local wedding and this was cheaper than the hotel options and gave us so much more space. The house was clean and cozy.
My husband and I stayed as we had a wedding to attend in town. This is a great house for a great price! Heidi, the owner, is extremely kind, has excellent customer service, and communication is super quick! Highly recommend!!!
Another great night at The 1926 Guesthouse! My son and I stayed here following a wedding in the area. The guesthouse had everything we needed and more. The host has thought of everything! We look forward to our next stay! Thank you, Heidi!
It was the perfect place to spend the night while visiting family nearby. Nice, updated space with everything we needed for our large family. Host was very courteous and helpful, as it was my first time booking through the site. If we are ever spending more time in the area, it will be our first pick.
Both the Guest House and the little town of Saint Lucas are so charming! The house is very clean and comfortable and decorated beautifully. My daughters, granddaughter and I were doing a relaxing girls weekend and the hosts left us gifts of face masks and eye pads, so very thoughtful! Beds are super comfortable and the entire house just has the most relaxing feeling to it. Will definitely stay here the next time we are in the area.
This was perfect for our girls trip to Decorah. We all had our own bed and space to spread out. The beds were so comfortable and the place had everything we needed. There is only 1 bathroom so if you don’t like going down narrow, creaky stairs at 2am to pee then you might want to sleep in the main floor bedroom!
Our stay at the 1926 Guesthouse was amazing. The house is beautiful and exactly as described. Our host, Heidi, was incredible to work with and communication was excellent. The check in process was seamless and the key placement when leaving the house is a great idea . The house is more than adequate to host a family or a group gathering. The kitchen is spacious and is stocked with necessary items. The handheld garment steamer is a fantastic amenity, it was a pleasant surprise to see it on the hallway table, we used it for several items of clothing! Thank you for sharing your home and all of the thoughtful touches that made our stay comfortable and stress free.
This property was adorable and comfortable. The house had everything I needed at an affordable price. I will absolutely stay here again. The host left information about community resources and helpful check in and out procedures as well as extra bottles of water in the refrigerator.
Was in the area for a wedding and this was close to venue. Was clean and served us well for an overnight. Would definitely stay again. Hosts stopped by to ask if it was okay to do yard work. Which was really nice of them because in reality they did not need to.
The house was an adorable older home. Exceptionally clean and had plenty of space for our family. Heidi was an amazing host and was very prompt with correspondence. Her kids even drew our daughter a good luck picture for her dance competition. Great personal touch and our daughter was over the moon happy! Our stay was super enjoyable. Would definitely stay again when we are in the area. Cute little town with a restaurant that had amazing service and food.
Neat, older country decor give this property are real homey feel. Very comfortable, firm bed yielded a great night's sleep. Like all houses of this vintage, the property only has one bathroom with a single sink. Larger families might find this constraining.
We needed a place near Decorah for the last night of our girls trip. This house was the perfect fit for the 4 of us. We walked a block to go for supper that night. And had a nice dinner with drinks, and played cards too at Sips and Savors! We closed the night with a yarn/wreath craft in the living room at the house. The next morning we had coffee before we checked out and headed to Decorah. Thanks for the cute house rental!
My husband and I stayed here for a wedding. We arrived late and were welcomed to a fridge full of bottled water, air conditioning turned on in several rooms, and coffee setup for the next morning (coffee pods and creamer provided-so nice). We had everything we needed for our stay. The location is quiet and the beds are comfortable. The host provided shampoo, conditioner, body soap and a hair dryer which were all appreciated. The host was very responsive and thought of everything! I would highly recommend staying here! We’ll be back!
This is a lovely early 1900s home with tastefully remodeled kitchen and bathroom. Decorated and furnished beautifully. There are 3 bedrooms/beds upstairs and 1 on the main floor - one of the beds upstairs is in a cute hallway alcove so that might be best for kids, we just used two beds but they were very comfortable. Had all the extra amenities we needed (and a lot more). There is just one bathroom downstairs, so anyone older might want to stay in the downstairs bedroom. We had no problems getting in, and host was very responsive to any questions. It was a very nice stay. It was an easy 30 minute drive to Decorah- we were there for Luther college graduation. I would definitely stay there again if I’m in the area.
The house was everything advertised and more. Comfortable, clean, well stocked, with comfortable beds, charging stations, and plenty of water stocked in the fridge! The stairs were a little steep but that was the norm for that age of a house and the handrail was sturdy enough to ensure our safety.
Note that the house has one bathroom only, so be sure you plan around that if you have multiple people in your party!
The only suggestion I would make to the property owner is they might want to consider adding a few mixing bowls to the housewares in the kitchen-I made biscuits one morning for breakfast but had to use a pot to mix them in.
But I will most certainly recommend this property, and it will be first choice for my family when we come back to the region!
