Find out what inspires the local artists, chefs and artisans at this stunning region situated at the intersection between red-rock desert and lush canyon valleys.

St. George lies within the canyons of the Virgin River Gorge, where ribbons of greenery are contrasted against the deep red of Utah’s mountainous desert. The city is located within easy reach of the breathtaking Zion National Park, the Mojave Desert and the Pine Valley, but isn’t just a haven for mesmerizing flora and fauna. St. George is also home to a thriving arts community, fantastic culinary scene and a historic downtown area.

Historically nicknamed Utah’s Dixie, St. George was established in the 1860s when the Mormon Church invited farmers and families from the South to settle around a cotton mission. Explore St. George’s downtown to find traces of the city’s pioneer past amid stately civic buildings and historic landmarks. Head to St. George’s historic courthouse and you will find a visitor information center within the neoclassical building. Find out what’s happening at venues such as the Toucahn Center for the Arts or the city’s local galleries. Check out some of the restaurants around Ancestor Square and sample some of the city’s fine produce or locally brewed ales.

Make the most of the breathtaking landscapes surrounding St. George by going on a trip to Zion National Park. This stunning wilderness reserve features deep valleys that thrive with lush greenery and contrast with the colossal red cliffs of the canyon. Go on a scenic drive through the national park or check out forest trails that follow along the Virgin River. The city of Springdale is also situated within the canyon, where you can visit intriguing artists’ studios and fine-dining restaurants.

Find more places to unwind around St. George. Check out Santa Clara City for great shopping or the City of Ivins for the Toucahn Amphitheater and relaxing spas. St. George also has 12 different golf courses and miles of mountain biking trails to explore.

St. George is located in the southwest corner of Utah. Make the most of the moderate temperatures between April and May or September and November. Drive 90-minutes’ north of Las Vegas or an hour from Cedar City Regional Airport and you’ll reach the city where verdant canyons dimple the red-rock landscapes.

"Overall I enjoyed my stay for the price and would stay here again. The room was fairly clean, breakfast had plenty of filing options, and the included amenities (pool, hot tub, sport courts, etc.) were nice. I’m giving it four stars though because the tub/shower had a bit of wear and tear to it. ..."
