Unfortunately the guests previous had spilled something on the livingroom rug. (Accidents happen!) It was a same day turnover and I tried to squeeze in a clean with my carpet cleaner. Unfortunately because I was unable to keep fans/dehumidifier on it, it didn’t dry out fast enough creating the musty smell so this was an isolated incident, imo not worth mentioning in a review as it is clear when you stay with us that we are owners/hosts that care A LOT about our guests comfort and we had been in discussion on where and why the smell had happened. I find VRBO guests to be the least forgiving when an honest hiccup happens. Anywho for future readers, our house does not smell like cat pee and in fact there has never been a cat live here in at least 15 years!

We have been renting full time for close to 2 years now. We are trying to increase our presence on VRBO but starting to feel like we cannot catch a break with VRBO reviews! Between VRBO and the other main booking site we have over 120 reviews. We have probably only gotten 9 or 10 x 4 star reviews and have NEVER received a 3 star and in my experience with travelling to vacation rentals a 3 star would be very sub prime accommodation! To respond to the specific complaints. We have never had any feedback from guests that suggested they thought our house was rural. Our listing says in multiple places how central in Squamish we are. That being said I am definitely considering changing that photo as I have never thought it was misleading but we always strive to over deliver with guests and exceed their expectations Also if you would like to verify anything about our property please do not hesitate to ask any questions. I respond quickly and honestly to ensure you are pleased with your decision. I’m not sure what to say about the hot water we have a standard 50 gal gas tank. I would estimate it allows for about 30-40 minutes of very hot showering at any one time. Then of course the tank needs to heat back up. Thankfully this occurs faster with the gas. Perhaps one day we will be able to upgrade to on demand hot water but it just isn’t in our budget at this time.

Hi Jenna, We are disappointed we lost a star in our first official VRBO review because of the above stated “downside”. We do provide kitchen sized garbage bags (and extras) for guests. We also encourage guests in our welcome message to ask if anything that isn’t provided is needed. I understand you had a gift unwrapping at the house and had you contacted us we would have been happy to provide you with a larger garbage bag for that! We do not provide bottled water. We are blessed with having amazing tap water in Squamish and Whistler. Squamish’s drinking water is glacier fed into an underground aquifer and treated with just a small amount of chlorine. We note this on our local recommendation board since we find when we are travelling in North America we often do not know the state of the tap water or whether it is good to drink.
