The facilities are beautiful, the staff are very pleasent and the breakfast was delicious. However, there are a few downsides: the air conditioner in the room was very loud, the bathroom setup is a bit strange with an overwhelmingly high water pressure, and cleaniness could definitely be improved.

Well, as a single person traveling, I can manage and tolerate a lot. But there is a misconception with this property. Pictures advertise are 10 years old, this property does not look as shown on Experia, or other 3rd parties. Don’t get me wrong, I support small businesses over big chains, that is why I stayed there, but if u cannot manage to serve breakfast on time ( like 45 minutes late) this is not really working well with anyone’s hiking trip/schedule. The area is nice , good restaurants to choose from.

The room was fine. I didn’t really take advantage of the free breakfast until the last day. It looked like a good spread. I mainly used the hotel as a base for four days in Yosemite. It was still almost two hours out so made for long days.

Please bear in mind that the property is an historic building and there will be things not be perfectly modern or picture perfect. That being said, the furniture and decor is certainly in the style of an Old West hotel room. The bathroom was clean probably the most modern of the room. The wraparound porch gave the space an additional outdoor living space which was perfect for visiting with friends. Overall a nice experience and my EMF detector didn’t go off even though the infamous room was directly overhead.

It has character to say the least. It’s old & has history. The breakfast was not good, the egg dish was not fully cooked, couldn’t find an employee to check out but the one employee that I did meet at check in was very sweet. It was fine for one night.

We chose to stay at the Gunn House because of its historical value, its central location, and its claim that the breakfast was wonderful. The room was poorly lit and difficult to maneuver. We needed to be at our destination the next morning by 8:30 (with a 1.5 hour drive) but were told breakfast wasn’t served until 7:30 so we waited with the idea of grabbing a quick coffee and toast. We got to the dining room at 7:25, along with other guests, only to wait until 7:35 for someone to open the dining room. He appeared to have just rolled out of bed when he rushed in. I asked if coffee was ready and he said neither coffee nor breakfast would be ready for at least ten minutes and then he left. We were already running late so we left without any food or coffee. It was a big disappointment.

Our room was very clean with plentiful towels and toiletries. We enjoyed the belgium waffles offered each morning. Any request we made brought an immediate response. We are hopeful that the apparent deferred maintenance on the building itself will be done at some point because we'd like to continue our 20-year relationship with Gunn Hotel.
