Rising an impressive 236 metres above the Niagara River, the Skylon Tower is a striking addition to the landscape around Niagara Falls, and is visible far and wide. Take the glass-fronted elevator to the summit of the building and enjoy spectacular views from its indoor-outdoor observation deck and enjoy a delicious meal in one of its two restaurants.
If you decide to dine in the Revolving Dining Room, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view from your table, as the restaurant makes a full revolution each and every hour, while serving up gourmet food from its eclectic menu. Visit between 11:30 am and 3 pm for lunch, or stay for dinner if you’re here after 4:30 pm. If you’re looking for family-friendly food, head for the Summit Suite Buffet Dining Room located on the same level, which offers lunch and dinner, as well as Sunday brunch all through the year.
Go up a level from the restaurants and you can visit the expansive observation deck and see the view from both the indoors and outdoors. From here, look up towards the clouds and across to Lake Erie and Buffalo in one direction, as well as towards Lake Ontario and Toronto in the other.
When you’ve admired the view, head back down to the foot of the tower where you and the family can see the 3-D/4-D movie complete with special effects, ‘Legends of Niagara Falls’. At the Family Fun Center nearby, children can enjoy the rides and interactive games, as well as enjoy a bite to eat at the food court. Check out the shopping concourse too where you’ll find all kinds of speciality shops and vendors selling art, crafts and souvenirs.
You can enter the tower via Murray Street, just one block up from the Niagara Parkway. If you’re driving, you will have to pay to park here. There is also a fee to visit the observation deck, though if you’re dining at the top of the tower, your admission charge will be waived. Check online for available tickets, as you’ll benefit from reduced prices. The arcade and shopping centre at the base however are open to all.
