Property was as beautiful as listed. We were comfortable and it felt like we were at home. I wish we had known it was a 10+ minute climb up a mountain. Will probably stay here again.

Cabin review
The cabin and property are beautiful, however the 2 car garage was unusable, there were 2 empty propane tanks so the grill could not be used. There were construction going on all day at the next door property. The hot tub did not work properly and would overheat. Also the main bedroom bed was held up on one side with a cinder block.
Our cabin and stay was exactly what our family needed! The ride up the hill was a little scary the first time up but after one time, you're a champ. We rented a pick up truck with 4 wheel drive. We saw a bear down the road that the cabin was on! We couldn't believe it!! They provided, dish detergent, towels, kitchen ware, toilet paper, trash bags. There is a coffee pot so be sure to bring your coffee and creamer to sit on the porch in the morning. The kids (17 and 11) had a great time playing games and hanging out in the basement. The hot tub was wonderful for all 4 of us to enjoy together. Overall, this stay was amazing and we cannot wait to return someday! Thank you!!

Disappointing Stay –Beautiful Views Can’t Save It
The view is stunning, but that’s where the good ends. Beds squeak nonstop, floors creak, and the toilet seat nearly falls off. One sink was clogged with hair, the tub was dirty, and the fridge lights flicker like a nightclub. Ceiling fans wobble dangerously, a lamp didn’t work, and the lighting is a chaotic mess. The telescope is broken, outdoor spot lights you cant turn off ruin the night sky, and the exercise equipment is broken. The basement door almost trapped someone outside. Oh—and the neighbor’s dog barks all day and roams. . This place needs serious maintenance. Not worth it.
We were switched to this property after a pre-arrival issue with the original one we booked. It was bigger than we needed but comfortable. Had everything we needed. Definitely could be cleaner (walls, linens stained, lots of bug carcasses on first level, counters sticky and because of a pre arrival issue the dishwasher had not been run). Location was great. Quiet. Dog friendly. The water softener was out is salt and beeping. Notified them via email as the phone line requested but never heard back. Water smelled horrible so not sure how long the softener hadn’t been working? We just bought bottled water to drink. Definitely worth it for the privacy and location.

Overall had a great time
We booked this property for a last minute roadtrip to Tennessee with our dogs. The property lists a maximum of two dogs but the lister was great about working with us to allow our 3 small breed dogs to attend. First, and most importantly, our dogs had a fantastic time. They thought the cabin was amazing. They loved the open space, all the windows to look out, and being able to run up and down the stairs. It was clear they felt totally at home. From the human perspective, I'll go through the pros and cons:
Pros:
-The cabin is a newer build so the kitchen, bathrooms and fixtures are modern
-Washer and dryer included
-The beds were super comfortable!
-The view is spectacular!
-Plenty of towels provided.
-Felt very warm, cozy and homey.
Cons:
-The cabin did not seem very clean, which is something I saw other reviewers comment on as well. It was clean in the main, noticeable areas. But in the less viewed, harder to reach areas you could tell it was seriously overlooked. The corners of the stairs, behind the toilet, the corners of the rooms, at the base of the kitchen counter, etc. Basically all the areas dust blows to and collects looked like they were not touched in a long time. I think a good, thorough, deep-clean of all the hard-to-reach areas is in order.
-Location. When we booked this property, it was simply listed as being in Pigeon Forge. The address was withheld until booking for safety reasons. When we finally did receive the address, we realized the cabin was a solid 30 minute drive from any activities in Pigeon Forge. I think it should be disclosed on the listing that it is actually 30 minutes from Pigeon forge.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Lazy Bear Retreat and wish we could have stayed longer. I would definitely return to stay here or recommend this place to family and friends.
The cabin is very comfortable and the view is amazing. The hot tub was wonderful. Driving up and down the mountain was an adventure! The cabin needs a good deep clean and the yard needs attention. Would stay again.
