Casa Grande Do Bachao
4.0 star property
9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (90)
"The road was long and windy to get there, but the welcome and beauty of the place vastly made up for it! The property is less than 30 minutes from the center of Santiago, located in a green valley. The main house dates from the early 18th century, with thick granite walls, and has been wonderfully restored with all modern comfort (including good wifi!). The service is excellent and we had our best breakfast in the whole Iberian peninsula, all for a very reasonable price. Our stay was too...

A Tafona do Peregrino

8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (44)
"Accomodation was central to the end of our very wet Camino walk. Would have liked more hanging options in the room for our wet weather gear butvat least the heater worked well to dry us and our clothes. Breakfast was good with GF options. Would have liked to be able to eat before 8am. Our host was very helpful especially when we were trying to contact the airline for our next flight."

"Very clean bedroom and bathroom. Comfy bed. The outer walls of the building are brick and visible in the bedroom and that gives it a very rustic feel and mix of old & new. Floors are laminate that keeps clean easily. No elevators and fortunately we were on floor 2. "

1.0 star property
7.2 out of 10, Good, (10)
"I was very unhappy with my experience as when I arrived, without any explanation I was marched down the street to a room in another pension without a bathroom. The lady from da Estrella spoke at length with the lady at the alternate pension about "bano". Again without attempting to explain that I wouldn't have my own bathroom she promptly left! My new landlady was very sweet even when I explained I would only be staying the 1night instead of two. The person from da Estrella grudgingly refunded...

"Tiny huts. Erratic hot water supply. Very sparse kitchen equipment. Beds only designed for short thin people. Cigarette buds everywhere on the grounds. Not terribly clean. Nice pool and good food and coffee in the local brasserie. "
