Amazing property, great vegan food , and the staff helped us with everything from booking excursions, to booking guides and boat service. So romantic and the rooms were gorgeous.
The place is magic. You are smiling during the stay without knowing it. We love the connection with the lake and their people. The amazing staff is another big plus. Congratulations to the owners/ managers for this jewel in Guatemala.
My husband and I had an amazing stay at Laguna Lodge Eco Resort. The room we were in was really comfortable and had a beautiful view of the lake. The staff was so kind and helpful. The hiking trail straight from the hotel was super convenient. I really loved taking their kayak out on the lake and exploring a bit. The pool was refreshing as well. Overall, I highly recommend staying here!
***Accesible by BOAT ONLY*** I think that should be the first and most important info anyone should know. Do not use google maps to get here coz it will lead to a very dangerous dirt road n stops at a cliff n your forced to go down said dirt road to a little town called Santa Cruz, which has 1 Main road leading to a small port. There you can get onto a water taxi for like $3 to get to the hotel which is just one stop over.
Once you get to the hotel though, excellent excellent service. They were extremely nice and hospitable. They gave me an upgrade since it was low season and it was just us and one other couple in the whole resort.
Of note, the restaurant on site is vegetarian only. I didn’t know that either. Sure I panicked. What does one do but miss meat right away when I heard that. But surprisingly, the food actually tasted good! Loved their free breakfast. Get the toasted coconut French toast!
We never went off property since we had to work online. We didn’t get to enjoy the pool since it rained every afternoon noon. But nonetheless, if it’s eco tourism, this is the place. Rooms are huge and beautiful. Balcony was even better.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
This property charges premium prices but delivers very little beyond the view.
The location overlooking Lake Atitlán is beautiful. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The internet was essentially unusable during my stay. For a hotel at this price level, reliable internet should be basic. I had work to do and could not connect. Mobile data also barely works in this location, so the hotel’s Wi-Fi is the only option.
What made the situation worse was the response from staff. No one was helpful or interested in resolving the issue. The explanation I received was that their office computer connected by LAN was working, so the problem must be Wi-Fi. They also blamed the internet provider. In other words, no one took responsibility.
One staff member even told me that because this is an “eco-resort,” guests shouldn’t need internet. That response is dismissive. Many guests still need internet for work, communication, or basic travel planning.
For one of the more expensive properties around Lake Atitlán, the lack of amenities and the failure to provide reliable internet is unacceptable. The view is fantastic, but the experience did not match the price.
Management should address both the connectivity issue and how staff handle guest concerns.
No logre llegar a la propiedad, las indicaciones llegaron el día de mi llegada al hotel y por falta de conexión no las recibí. Deberían tener las indicaciones claras desde el momento de hacer la reservación. Pésimo servicio y atención a cliente

El hotel está bien. Un poco viejo. Tiene una vista increíble.
Para llegar al hotel NO poner waze. Leer instrucciones de llegada o llamar al hotel antes. Esto deberían especificarlo al hacer el booking.
We had a wonderful time staying for 2 days in Laguna. David and his staff were amazingly warm. The foods was super - and the views don't get any better. We had lovely walks - with hiking just behind the hotel. I could have stayed a few more days. We loved it.
My family loved this truly beautiful and relaxing hotel. The room was incredibly comfortable, the staff so sweet and accommodating. David was a true gem who managed the hotel. We took memorable hikes and ate wonderful food. I highly recommend this hotel and location.

beautiful hotel, but not for family
Laguna is a beautiful hotel with breath taking views, isolate/quiet place can only be accessed by boat. Great option for honeymooners or people wants quiet place for meditation.
Room- very clean and most comfortable bed
Food- great vegetarian/vegan food. But If you eat meat, this is not your kind of place
Staff - very friendly and helpful
Pool/jacuzzi - The hotel has a small pool but water is freezing cold, our boys (5 and 8) thought it was too cold to swim, they loved jumping off the dock and swimming in the lake (not recommended by some due to water pollution, but we think it's fine). Jacuzzi need to be reserved few hours before use
One more general comments - we travelled with our young boys, they go to bed at 9pm, gets up at 8am. They gets loud sometimes playing their games, or just typical brother fights. We did get guests complaining about the noise level. So if your kids are like ours, please consider a hotel in San Marco where they can find friends, playgrounds and basketball or soccer fields
This place is absolutely amazing. A gorgeous place with amazing views. Food is yummy, vegetarian. They have there own boat that you can charter. They cal also pick you up from Panajachel. Beautiful reserve as well.
Location on Lake Atitlan a winner. Accessible by boat only, this is a unique boutique hotel with memorable views across the lake to the volcano, and small village lights twinkling at night. Delicious a la carte breakfast included
