We checked in on Sunday, May 26. The guy who helped us to checked in was so rude. He charged me extra. I am still trying to contact Expedia customer service to talk to them and get back my money. I am completely unhappy with customer service and the experience of being here.

Affordable, clean, and cute!
I stayed here for one night for a solo business trip. I enjoyed the ease of check-in, even though I arrived around 11pm. Parking was easy. I was greeted by the quaint atmosphere of the room as soon as I walked in. I loved the interior design of the room, which made me feel like i was in a cabin lodge. The linens and counters were clean, floors felt like they were clean enough. Honestly, a shame that I only spent one night here! If I'm ever in the area, I would book again.

This is an old motel. We had a two room suite with a kitchen and a couch. It was clean and had a totally retro aesthetic. The owner/manager couldn’t have been nicer. Would love to stay there again.

The Hitching Post was fine. It was nice to have a kitchenette and small dining room as well as the bedroom. My only concern is the neighbors could be heard when they got loud.

When I come back I'll come back to Hitching post
Santa Cruz is not cheap nowadays. So me and my partner were pleasantly surprised with the accomodations and service received at the Hitching Post. We got a room with the kitchen and it's relatively close to the beach and also our main destination in Soquel. I'm easy to please, but I don't normally give reviews like this. I just appreciated the owners friendliness and the fact the room was comfy and clean foremost. I don't really have any complaints; If I did it is probably just where it is specifically. Usually I stay places more scenic. Having said that it was extremely convenient to be walking distance from anything I need. If I was on the beach I wouldn't have that. So yea. No complaints. Just heads up, like 12 min drive to beach, but walking distance to necessities

Very clean and across the street from Walgreens (walked to get snacks) .. at the hotel the front desk gentleman was very welcoming and kind. As far as location is was perfect for our day at the Boardwalk and night venture to the mystery spot then dinner downtown. Super good (driving distance) to all places we went to. good price Will be staying again.

I thought I booked just a room but had a king suite that was bigger than a few apartments I've lived in! Full kitchen, dining room combo, plus separate bedroom and bathroom. Very quiet. Very dated 50s/60s but freshly painted and clean. And cheap price for Santa Cruz...

Quaint, Very clean.. a little dated.
Never stayed there before. Was an older motor court.. very clean and had a comfortable bed. Could have used the following: a clock, 4th pillow, hair dryer, had no accessible electrical outlets in the bedroom for computer or phone charger. No outlets by desk. I had to charge electronics in kitchenette.
