OK. Here's the deal. The location is perfect for people with kids at Santa Clara. Literally across the street. Have stayed here a few times because of convenience and just had to say that while the service was really lovely the hotel itself was filthy. Boxes everywhere, garbage overflowing in nearly every garbage can, luggage racks left in the hallway, carpets filthy as if they had not been vacuumed in a week. The hotel needs a carpet upgrade, for sure and needs a deep clean, for sure.

The bed was comfortable, the bedding was clean, and I liked having a full-sized fridge and living room. The wifi was terrible, the lamps were waterstained, and if you want new towels you have to take the dirty ones to the front desk to exchange them. The dishes were dirty. And the dishwasher would not get dishes clean, even though I ran it several times and even went and got my own dish detergent. The TV only shows cable, but you can plug in a firestick, but between the wifi and the TV capabilities, even the firestick's abilities were limited. And, they charged for parking. The best thing about the Sonesta is the proximity to SCU. But next time I'll stay somewhere else.

Would have been helpful if staff allowed my room to use more than one pair of utensils and dishware. Asked front desk and they denied any more. Wifi was a bit spotty and would go down every now and then. Besides that, property was clean, staff was respectful and helpful, and bed / quality of sleep was perfect.

the room was dirty, carpet / floor not very clean. there was a medication pill found on the floor. the room was very outdated. the breakfast "buffet" looked awful. the price of the room that i booked and was quoted was almost doubled. the person at check in was nice. Never again!

I stayed for one night while visiting Santa Clara University with my daughter. The hotel was super close and convenient as it is not only across the street from SCU, but also next to a bus stop to/from the airport and the Caltrain which goes into San Francisco. The staff was very friendly, I appreciate using the gym during my stay and loved the convenience of the suite with kitchenette so we could store breakfast food. The property was also very quiet despite being near a relatively busy road. It’s definitely stay here again.

Pros: okay gym, good location, and comfortable bed Cons: no parking and front desk staff basically told us we need to figure it out for ourselves, room had a weird smell and a roach. I wouldn’t recommend for more than a cheap one night stay.

There are many reasons to stay at the Sonesta, but the #1 reason was the staff. Professional, helpfuly, responsive, etc. It didn't matter what time I was passing through the lobby, the people at the front desk were super helpful. I trust the owners know that and keep them well-compensated. It's what makes many people return. Other things that were great was the location, the amenities and the rooms themselves. The only thing I gave a lower score on was the property itself. There have been solid refurbishments but it's age is showing and there are obvious things that could be done to improve it's overall appearance. However, overall, the stay was defenitely great value (and comfort) and perfectly located. I will be returning.
