While the location and facilities were a complete let down the redeeming factor is the customer service of Alex who went over and above our expectations. Kudos to Alex for his thoughtfulness.

Thought the hotel would be decent.
I hated that I could see stains on the bedsheets and pillow. I hated my room smelled like weed and cigarette, it was so bad I had to sleep with my mask on. I was so disgusted, I made sure to check out as early as possible. I am never coming back!

You get what you pay for
The price was good. It was an alright place to crash nothing special. Lots of broken things including the elevator which meant walking up four flights of stairs every time you left. Neighborhood was a dump for sure.

Superior Service!
I chose to book my stay at the Minna Hotel last week because of It’s modern chic aesthetic within walking distance to Bart while being extremely fair priced for an expensive city like San Francisco. As amazing as it was to find a hotel that had perfect balance of style, location, and price I am writing this review based on the exceptional service I experienced while staying there. I was very nervous about traveling last week because of both COVID-19 and the riots that have swept across the nation. The hotel has done an exceptional job at keeping a clean and Safe environment for its guests. The lobby had a 24/hr front desk that is enclosed in floor to ceiling glass which allows the staff to maintain safe social distances while still feeling as tho you are talking face to face. Alex, who worked the night shift, was extremely helpful at Helping me navigate the city during this time by offering recommendations for restaurants nearby that where open for take out. Overall the entire staff was very polite and respectful during this stressful time in the nation.

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. I don't mind staying in SOMA on 6th st (one of the worst areas in the city in terms of homelessness and poverty), but this hotel was disgusting. The hallways smelled like a morgue. The smell reminded me of when I would visit my grandma at her assisted living facility where very old people who were dying made up the residency (the smell of death). I believe that this is a hotel is where people bring prostitutes to have sex. I could of even looked past all of that. The thing that really upset me was when I got a towel that had stains on it (yes, stains. Super gross!) and I went down to the front desk to ask for a new one because the phone in my room didn't work. When I asked the front desk attendant he said that he couldn't because he was too busy. This was upsetting because he was on the phone watching TV. My room had no openable window or air conditioning so the room was super stuffy and hot. Honestly, this is more of a hostel than a hotel. People were hella loud as well. Overall, this was an awful experience and I would never recommend anyone to stay here unless they needed a cheap place to bring a prostitute.

Good value for money
It's a nice place. The room was small but okay for the price. Breakfast does not have as much variety as other places I've visited but it's decent. The hotel is clean overall and must have been constructed not too long ago but sometimes neighbors make a mess of the shared toilets. I liked it overall because it was a good deal for my budget compared to other places I've been to that are within the same price range.

MINNA hotel is awesome and was clean everything worked and too spite being on a busy street with many hotels hat are neither, Minna is at the top of the class.

Area was not really nice - especially in the evenings it felt very insecure to walk around. We actually booked Ubers to the hotel so we wouldn’t have to walk in the area.

Devestaiting didn’t even get to spend the night their to do security concerns their hotel is in the worst part of San Francisco were their homeless all over the streets not parking

I was supposed to get two queen sized beds but instead they were two singles. The room was stuffy and hot as hell. The windows are dirty AF. Carpets are disgusting. Room was tiny. Don’t stay here. All the pictures are lies. The area is horrible.

Property provides all the basic needs for a nice stay in San Francisco. Staff were friendly and helpful! Room cleanliness could've been slightly better, but even with that said it was still fine by my standards. I would stay again!

Super basic. This place is like a dorm room in that you have a bedroom but the shared bathroom is out in the hall. Great location in the city but also a bit sketchy. Hotel is safe and cleanly with friendly staff.

Staff was pretty cool for the most part but the place was in a shady area with lots of noise and the window seals were almost to gross to touch. I suggest bringing a can of Lysol and extra blanket for 50$ you get what you pay for.

It's a good hotel for the price. And even when there are a lot of homeless people in the surroundings, they won't do anything to you and it's a few blocks away from a main street. Don't expect to much about the breakfast, it's pretty basic, so strongly recommend that if you have dietary special needs, get something and put it in the fridge of your room. The convenient store in the corner is really nice and the guy who's always there is super nice as well. If you go tell them that the Venezuelan guy that went with his mom send greetings and says Hola hehehe Also I don't know if it was because it was Winter, but the AC wasn't working, I strongly recommend that if you go during the summer, ask if they are working before booking, because it can get pretty hot. And bring with you some cheap flip flops that you can use to take showers because people can be really nasty.

I appreciated the staff politeness and their attention to hosts' requests. Restrooms/room conditions-cleanliness were pretty bed. Part of this issue is due to bad users (hosts), but still not acceptable.

It had nice breskfast. It was in the safe part of a sketch area. They are remodeled. . There is a locked gate after recepion. only can open with your card . You are safe. Quiet. Best eats are feet away on corner. I was lucky.

i didn't feel safe
hotel located near the famous heroin and homeless area - Tenderloin. very scary during day and especially night. crazy people talk with themself, guy shots heroin in front of you, and you have a feeling that you will be robbed or will get a shot with AIDS. Homeless won't talk with you if you ignore them and overall they don't care about you, but feels awful anyway. The tenderloin area is growing. The smell of weed everywhere. Drugdillers do their business during the day on the streets. You can see people who behave strange all around the center and they trying to make people notice them. Smell of weed everywhere. we managed to find a more safe way to get into a hotel - use Mision street. don't use 6th street. Very bad, stressful experience. I don't understand how normal people can live there. Will never go back to Union Square area and maybe to SF too. Hotel by itself is ok. Breakfast is good. Chico pizza place for taking away is nice too.

Nice and cheap, even homeless can afford it.
The location was right in the downtown, but also in the most dangerous area. The surrounding was full of homeless and gangster. They should give out pepper spray when checking in, just in case. You CANNOT walk outside alone in after the sun have set, staff will warn you when checking in and you better listen. Even a walk across the hotel to the convenient store is scary at night. The neighborhood is one of the scariest I have been. We witnessed a car theft at the gas station a block away while we were refueling. However, for the hotel itself, the room was okay bed was comfortable. Except the carpet that seems to be a hundred years old and extremely dirty. You should pack a slipper with you. Bathroom and restroom were nice and clean. Breakfast is acceptable with cereal, milk, and bread. No hot breakfast. Staff were very nice. During our stay we met some of the (used to be) homeless staying in the hotel. The hotel was so cheap even the homeless can afford it. You get what you pay for. It is a bargain considering its location and room quality. However, if your budget is higher or there are no need to stay in downtown, find other place that is safer or better.
