We loved our stay at this property! We were in town for the Trestles Pro this year. The hotel is very conveniently located to downtown San Clemente and Trestles. We brought our dog with us. We appreciate that they put us on the 1st floor, so that we could take her out with ease. There were lots of extras to use at the beach or take bike rides. The room was very spacious. There was plenty of parking (at least at this time of year) The water pressure was great in the shower. Every staff member we encountered was very nice. The service was excellent! Honestly, we ONLY have two notes: 1) The queen beds are quite soft. (want to mention, in case that is an issue for someone's back) 2) Having more than one small trash can in the bathroom would be more convenient. But if we find ourselves in SC again, we will DEF be back! Thank you to the staff

Okay stay, but feels dated. This is a basic, no-frills hotel. It gets the job done if you’re just looking for a place to sleep, but don’t expect much beyond that. The room felt outdated overall. The bedsheets were clearly low thread count and not the most comfortable. The TV was small, and the air conditioning was very loud if you left it running overnight—enough to be distracting. The shower head had limited coverage, so it didn’t feel very spacious or modern. One nice plus: there’s a microwave in the room, which is handy if you want to heat up food. Parking can be tight. When the hotel is at full capacity, you may end up short one spot and have to use street parking. Luckily there’s plenty available just around the corner. Overall, it’s an okay budget option if your expectations are low, but the outdated feel and a few comfort issues keep it from being more than average

I liked the large space in the room. It was in a good spot with a donut shop across the street. The beach was close but not walking distance for us. The shower was great. They have streaming tv, but not cable. The staff were very friendly and helpful if needed. I liked the terrace where I can sit a relax. (There is traffic on the street below, but that didn't bother me.) The amenities were useful. I didn't like the restaurant across the street, but we only tried it once. Overall, it was very comfortable, and I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Staff was fantastic, my big gripe was there's no pool, no breakfast, parking is a challenge, and the shower head was detached from the wall, and the half sheet of glass from the shower led to the water going everywhere. The claim of soundproofed rooms are a 50/50 being I heard every sound above us. I did pay for an upgraded ocean view room, but it was a peak, a partial glimpse and that's if you exited the room and slightly tilted your neck to see, not an ocean view at all. Room was cute, but minor repairs were needed. Staff was honestly the best part of our stay though. Very kind. Bed could have been more comfortable.

Clean very large spacious room however there was a missing door for the bathroom so showering caused a big mess with water. I cleaned up best I could but you could tell it's been like this for a while since the floor boards would creak when you stepped on them. Location was very walkable. Parking was limited.

Not a great experience. Texted them around 3:30 to see if the room was ready and was told they would let me know. At 4:03 I text them and they said the cleaning crew needs 10 minutes. I arrive at 4:15pm and it’s still not ready. 4:25pm the room is “ready”. First I couldn’t get in because the code they gave me didn’t work, they changed the code ok great. I went to use the toilet and the seat was covered in hairs and pee.. so i have them come clean it. All in all the room was ok other than the missing shower door but the whole property could use a deep clean.

The hotel is quite grand looking and the room was cozy and clean, but there were serious plumbing issues in my room. The hot water handle for the sink was nonfunctional and the handle for the shower came off in my hand. The Surf Break Hotel is right across from the freeway and was quite noisy. You are charged $25 for breakfast and beach rentals like surf boards and bikes. That gives you a $15 credit at the cafe across the street, which was delicious, and access to the beach equipment, which I didn't need. The staff was very helpful and kind.

Yeah you can see a decent ocean view just over the freeway. Not big but still decent view. 7min drive to the pier bowl. Surfing donuts across the street is good and sanchos tacos down the road also good. Room has roku tv.

Housekeeping was a little inconsistent with what was completed each day but we always had fresh towels and that’s what mattered most to me. Hotel front desk was super helpful. Clean and comfy beds. Would stay again. San Clemente trolly was not operating this time of year so that was the only downfall as I had chosen this hotel for the convenience of not having to drive to the beach and pay for parking but parking rates weren’t awful after all.

Always loved staying at Surfbreak very welcoming staff and accommodating! Especially the property manager Julie who is very understanding and welcoming! Parking is good and free, the breakfast at SC cafe is chefs kiss and location of this place is good! It’s nearby me and my partners favourite places such as the beach which is at least less than 5 mins away and our favourite local burrito place. Will definitely come back. Keep it up surfbreak!
