"The staff were so friendly and keen to make everything perfect. The room was great. The food was excellent. I had really great dinners and breakfast was delicious start to day. The locals clearly loved the Royal Oak which was another good sign! Such a great stay and only good things to say about it!"
"The Breakfast was included and was really excellent (good choices, fresh good quality ingredients, well presented etc.), and the free off-road parking at the rear was convenient.
We stayed in the cottage which is nicely presented, and good value. The only minor issues were the tv remote didn’t work (probably just batteries), the bathroom is a bit tired (toilet hard to flush, mold around the bath), but the shower and overall facilities were good enough.
Overall, a comfortable good value stay."
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Loved the old world charm of the hotel.
Room large and comfortable. Food excellent all round. The owners very amenable and friendly. Staff so nice and efficient.
No complaints at all."
"An OK stay, common areas are a little tired, first morning we waited 20 mintes for someone to bring a menu and take our order, second morning was better.
Great location with easy access to North York Moors."

"We had a lovely stay, room was clean and comfortable, dog friendly.
Food was delicious and excellent friendly service.
Situated just a short distance from the moors with lovely walks and stunning scenery."
"We have stayed at Byre Cottage before and it was lovely. We needed somewhere to stay to get to a local country fair and this property agent was the first we thought about."
"The property itself is lovely. Unfortunately the heating broke while we were there meaning the temperature inside the cottage dropped to 10 degrees. Despite best efforts to get someone to sort this out, and a promise of someone coming out to address the issue with the boiler, nobody arrived. Consequently the trip was very disappointing and the support from the holiday company less than satisfactory. Apparently they are still waiting to hear back from the owner but I don't hold out much hope of anything being forthcoming. Hopefully nobody else suffers the same experience."
