Independent in Robertson

"Our stay was under unusual conditions. There had been a major rain storm in the past few days with some severe flooding. Despite this our stay was excellent. We spent a fair amount of time at the bar and the food and the service was exceptional. Loved the room as well."

"Upon arrival we realized this is not a farm but a little small holding. All units less than 15 feet from each other. A Large Barn is also right opposite the cottages where workers are staying. Drawers in kitchen not in good condition, small stove in a terrible condition. Dead ants in the cupboard. The Sunday morning the workers who stay in the barn opposite the cottages were painting and playing terrible and very loud music. This was not a nice Sunday morning on a farm. "Our stay was great. The host was outside and greeted us when we drove up. She directed us to our room (an upgrade) and explained the services, mainly breakfast since it was winter. Speaking of breakfast, the hot plate was delicious, a great start to our morning. Only issue was the cold. It was in the high 30s/low 40s and there was no heat in the room or breakfast area. The extra blanket helped, but there was no where to sit that was a reasonable temperature. The staff we met were all fabulous....

"This is one of my favourite places near Robertson. Beautiful setting with a little pond you can overlook from the bar. In the evening phantastic atmosphere and vwry peaceful. Also the staff very friendly and I received an excellent breakfast. Had been here before when it still was Rosendal Winery. Now new owners who have some excellent ideas how to develop the place. I really enjoyed the discussion with them. Hope to come back one day and see the further development"

"An absolute find in this beautiful part of the Karoo. The atmosphere and style is that of a traditional Game Lodge. The food is excellent with a team to match. There are several designated walks within the estate for all levels of ability. The one thing we noticed is how immaculately clean the whole place was, with the pool being the cleanest we've experienced throughout our travels in SA.
