I can see why this hotel is 5* because the actual physical building can certainly pass for 5* but the way it’s run is definitely not 5*. This is nothing against the staff who are actually great.
It’s more about the food (I have had better breakfasts in some hostels!), the limited/low quality toiletries (3* pousada style), the cleanliness is okay but again not 5* as I found some hair from the previous guest in my shower and the service although friendly is just not the sort you would expect in a 5* hotel.
Yet having said all that for the price I paid (around $70) it’s actually great value! The rooms are modern and spacious, the pool is massive (unlike most Coppa hotels), the gym is great, the location is literally across the road from the beach (but there aren’t many amenities near by as your are stuck in the middle between Leblon and Barra)!
I would go back to chill and spend another day here by the pool and escape Rio but I hope this review will help manage your expectations.
