Rooms are a tiny box no air condition when rooms heat up sheets are bubbly and scratchy showers are so tight you can’t move but need to says shower power was amazing if you need a budget friendly in a good spot near cruise port or a mile from downtown this is your pick
Room very Small. Very limited Space for our clothes and luggage.
Window does not open and fresh air is limited in the room.
Staff is awesome and the breakfast buffet is good.
We were assigned a room on the 7th floor which was fairly large and had a good view. Our request for a walk in shower was honored, however the shower was difficult to use due to a lack of a shelf to hold soap and wash cloth. Otherwise the room was comfortable, breakfast was good, and staff were friendly and helpful.

Location was convenient. Price was good. Rooms were tiny - barely fit two twin beds. Hardly any space for luggage. S is 6' 3" and bed was too short for him. Found it better to meet out in the lobby area (a bit shabby but clean).

Hotel was not in a convenient location- far from main tourist area. Some issues for wheelchair access- access from accessible parking spot was poor-rough gravel and broken asphalt. Room was large but access to bed was blocked with ladder to upper bunks. Bathroom toilet seat was wiggly/broken and made transfers difficult. Would be great to have shelf or cart in bathroom to put toiletries on. Breakfast was good- lots of options.
The staff were phenomenally helpful. They scheduled my airport shuttle pick-up and helped me with my luggage storage post-check-out.
The hotel is aging and modest, but within easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions.
Great place to stay on a budget. It is rather small , but has all thats necessary for budget travellers as a place to stay in an expensive part of the world . It is not luxurious , not roomy , but comefortable and clean and offers a lovely breakfast in the morning. The staff are friendly , it has a bar , but to my knowledge no parking , but we didn't have a car , so I don't know about that
Hotel Cabin is a designated pick-up point for many tours and airport transport. Also, there's a bus stop directly across the street, and a food court and grocery store just up the street. These are the pluses. Some of the reception staff were VERY helpful. A change of shift brought someone less helpful. The single occupancy rooms are very small. And Breakfast was not included unless you book directly with the facility. Should have been included.
The hotel was clean, and the breakfast was adequate. The room was so small that we could only open our suitcase by putting it on top of the bed, which was a small size twin bed (one for each of us.) there was no blow dryer, only 2 shower towels and 2 hand towels. 1 bar of soap and shampoo (no cream rinse). No frills but inexpensive and clean. Go with no expectations and you won’t be disappointed!
I have stayed at this hotel many times for work. The staff are really helpful.
Breakfast has lots of selection, and is very fresh. My favourite is a bowl of the natural yoghurt with a dollop of the rhubarb compote generously ladeled in there… maybe a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar on top. Heaven. Also, Icelandic bread & butter (“Smjör”) is iconic. You won’t regret putting the diet on hold for Smjör.
The bedrooms at Cabin are European, so compact but clean and quiet. The staff really helped me with everything I need. Cabin is 20 to 30 minutes walk downtown depending on which bit of downtown you want to go to. I can strongly recommend Kronan supermarket for supplies (90 seconds walk!). Or Hygge café for snuggly coffee and pastries (with a hip Icelandic crowd). Plus the “Borg 29” markethall is just across the road, if you want to mix it up a bit and try one of the cool Icelandic food halls / beer halls - very fun.
